Is it a good car?
They sell Cadillacs in Europe?
>>17070949
YES
yuropoors can afford rolls royces and bentleys too.
>>17070949
Yes but they start at 70k euros because euro tariffs and taxes instead of 50 base here
That plus insurance is a deal breaker
Cadillac sells less cars than Ferrari and Lamborghini there
What car is this?
looks like a 1985 Pontiac Fiero SE with a bodykit

Let's pretend for a second that i'm seriously going to spend some money and upgrade my theoretical sporty-but-still-shitbox car. Will sharp camshaft increase my power on top end of rev range, but i'll lose a little bit on the bottom? Or will i just get more power on top without any power-related downsides?
I looked up some dyno charts and i couldn't find any reason to believe that sharp cams drop down power on low end, but people keep saying it.
>>17070917
what engine?
what mods if any?
what are "sharp camshafts"?
sometimes you can use use cams with higher lift and slightly longer duration and get gains everything (assuming you have good flowing exhaust/intake).
but often cams with longe duration move peak VE / torque zone to higher RPMs and that reduces VE / torque on lower RPM's.
again it depends on many variables, for example you can tune your exhaust (headers) to match your cams and get some gains.
>>17071317
I'm making some kind of a game and i'd like to get general idea, if it's reasonable to drop down low rpm performance a little bit after player installs sharp cams.
>what are sharp cams
well, any cam that opens up valves wider and for longer periods of time, i think. I don't have any specific case scenario.
>>17071327
Do you mean longer duration cams?
(Let's give this a try)
Tools you use
Tools you want
Harbor Freight gems
Are Snap-on/Mac/Matco/Cornwell worth it
Weirdest tool you own
Etc.
I rarely buy snap-on, not because I'm poor but because I'd rather spend my money on slightly better things than fucking tools
HF's clamps are good, there's also a digital caliper I have that's worked for a few years and I also have a set of half inch drive impact sockets that have been really good
I owned Sonic tools for a while but their customer service is absolutely fucking garbage, I eventually decided fuck it and stopped buying them
>>17070783
>Sonic
Is that what Chrisfix uses?
How do I know which solder to use when soldering?
My dad is kind of a helicopter parent so he gets freaked out by cheap Civic SI's and even older Corollas. He only trusts premium cars like the normie fag he is and is deliberately wanting me to find a Lexus, Acura, BMW, Mercedes or Audi.
Here are my choices:
1. Acura TSX Manual
2. Acura TL Manual
3. Audi A4 2.0T Manual
4. Audi A3 2.0T Manual
5. BMW 530i Manual
What do you think, /o/?
>>17070118
Who is paying for the car?
TSX and TL are fine, look for an 2013 or older Acura ILX manual while you search.
>>17070132
Mi padre. Price range is give or take no more than 10K.

THESE
THREADS
>>17069774
lol I'm new here, I didn't even notice there were so many threads. Is this a meme or something ?
What exactly makes it shitty? It's a good well rounded car at an affordable price point. Yeah, it's a bit low on horsepower but the torque figures are fair for the weight and the short gearing makes it peppy and fast off the line.
What went wrong?
This being the 10th thread about the 86.
>>17069732
Assmad fangirl detected
Enthusiasts being dirt poor cheapskates that can't even afford a 25k car (cheaper today then the AE86 or 240SX were back then)
Whats /o/'s opinon on the new 86? Is it a modern version of the AE86? And most importantly, does it drift?
>>17069570
Yes and yes but we still don't like it because it has no power, similar to the original 86.
>>17069574
Why not just mod the fick oit of it like in Inital D?
The standard traction control is spot on for casuals. It lets things get a little bit out of hand before kicking in so you get to learn where the limit is but gently puts is back on course so you don't get caught with your pants down.
Pleasantly controllable once you're ready to reduce the training wheels.

What's driving a beetle like?
loud.
and probably even unsafer than riding a bike
>>17067747
Compared to a modern economy car?
It's loud in all ways, the steering is manual, the shifter throw is long and vague, clutch is extremely light, lots of body roll, obviously slow.
However it's got low gearing and good torque so it's zippy around town. The ride is nice because of big sidewalls and cushy suspension and seats. The smell of warm oil is addicting. Almost as addicting as that air-cooled chatter. And everyone above 50 smiles and waves as you because the car is cute.
t. Beetle owner
Deeply satisfying on a very rudimentary level, as is driving any simple old shitbox.
With increasing size and power, cars first become less fun before they become more fun again.
Europoor here.
Approx. 2 - 2,5 K USD to spend for a car, not a diesel, small engines (2.0 l max) due to taxes and insurance cucking.
Was thinking about this, any better ideas?
The 2.3 is the engine you want in a B3 or B4.
>>17066423
You again? Way too much for an Audi 80, find one for 500 and invest the rest of the money somewhere else.
>>17066423
Or this one.
