>No one in this time and place has the time to sit and listen uninterrupted for sixty minutes to anybody's music. I think Robert Christgau is the last record reviewer on earth who listens to eight records a day twice before giving his opinion on it ... Christgau is the last true-blue record critic on earth. He gave us an A-plus. That’s pretty much who I make my records for. He's like the last of that whole Lester Bangs generation of record reviewers, and I still heed his words. He gets my vision, and I’m cool with that. But half these people, they read Pitchfork, and they base half their opinion and quotes on that."

Was he right /mu/?

Christgau let him bang his wife

>basing your opinions on music reviews
this ruins music, if you have to be told something is good before you listen to it you are never not listening allegorically
>>74462037
>But half these people, they read Pitchfork, and they base half their opinion and quotes on that
he's right about that. pitchfork sux
Hey /mu/ can you recommend me some catchy, energizing songs/albums? Even better if it's funky.

Any other albums like this?
Power, Corruption and lies - New Order
Shriekback - Care
Turn on the Bright Lights - Interpol
This is pretty overrated
It's a hardcore east coast album from '95. There's definitely worse rap albums than this made in the same year.
I think this album is rated fairly, anon.

Mayer Vs, Frusciante?
>>74461898
Why are there so many Elvis aka ''Steal the black people music guy'' threads today?
>>74461898
Frusciante has one of the most incredible guitar tones in modern rock, especially seeing how he can work it into his solo albums. He's honestly one of the most talented guitarist around today imo. That being said, Mayer is someone that so many people throw under the bus so quick. His songwriting is honestly a bit weak, but that's just a personal opinion. His technical skills as a guitarist though are really great, but he honestly kind of lacks any personality in his playing, it seems very vanilla without anything all that unique.

Both are terrible.
Rap/Trap fags get the fuck in here
What some of the best obscure artist/songs you bump heavy
John Mayer is kickin' ass in myneyess
>Have the living greatest guitarist
>He is also a Deadhead
& yet Mayer will be signing with Zach Hill?
Any country like this that's a bit more focused on vocals and a bit depressing? Some Johnny Cash is quite similar, but this is easily the genre I know the least about... I was a northern cliche and thought country was just for hicks, but this changed my mind.

Hello youtube
James Ferraro Dean Blunt John Maus OPN Ariel Pink
>not available on iTunes
>not availble on Spotify
>last CD reissue (Zappa Family Trust, 2013) has been unavailable for over a year now
>literally the only Beefheart CD you can't buy new on Amazon
When will this get a proper reissue? This is his most (in)famous and best-selling album, yet it's less available than Unconditionally Guaranteed and Bluejeans & Moonbeams. Who is to blame here?
this album is too patrician to be on streaming services and shit
