Thanks for that detailed and well thought out opinion. It totally deserved it's own thread.

There's also this movement going on for years now that want to tear down /m/ down and make it a "science fiction" board so to accommodate these new species of people. I'm glad to say that this will never happen because /m/ is not a sci fi board. Just look at the other dumb faggot in that other thread equating high school science fiction with high brow. It's both hilarious and extremely sad at the same time.

I used to think toku was cancer, until a few years ago, when I realised toku and classic mecha are the only last bastions of actual enjoyment on /m/.

I kind of like having the MSG series dubbed and the movies subbed (hilariously bad 90s dub aside), watching the excellent series dub then going into other UC anime subbed after watching the movies is my recommended way of getting into Gundam. The Zeta movies don't really need a dub either, the Zeta series dub is pretty mediocre outside of a handful of good performances and the movies themselves aren't very good.

Stil I find the ending quite rushed. IIrc, Cosmoship Yamato and Gun frontier both ended there storyline, but still fell unfinished.
I think that's something Matsumoto does a lot, and it sort of fit his kind of stories.

That's why I love Queen Emeraldas so much. Matsumoto's stories are just about some guy that wonders in space without a clear goal, and that when his style really shine.

We still give soldiers knive an bayonets, even though hand to hand cmbat's very rare, AFAIK. I so i'm not too botherd seeing it on real robots. I think somthing as bit as the spear is a bit much, because of its sze though, something like a knife or small hatchet works better.

Yeah, spear is a fucking stupid weapon for a real robot. Much too flimsy, too easy to glance off armor, and you cant bleed a robot to death anyway.

You want axes or hammers. Heavy enough not to break, with enough concussive force thst even if you dont penetrate thick armor you are still doing damage to the internals.
