You need friends and political parties when you want to enforce your agenda on the world.
You find love when the world doesnt want your agenda. When it wont accept you for who you are, then at least one person in the same predicament will be enough for you to feel at home. You see couples on the streets and they seem so happy but they are less than pathetic, for life has given up on them to live free of intent and effort.
What self-absorbed monsters humans actually are.
Rare is one too pure for friends and love. Such a one appears as a hermit, asocial to the 'normal people' but he is just fully what nature intended and needs no help to be that.
As such the schools, the society, the state, science, priesthood are for people who want to dominate and be dominated.
As such the schools, the society, the state, science, priesthood are for people who want to dominate and be dominated and do not concern, nor affect the free thinker.

...will be enough for you to feel at home and to pass on your agenda on your kids with the hope this way you, your thinking, will live on and thus be understood one day. The idea of the afterlife came about for this purpose - you want to continue thinking the same trash and enforce it for eternity.
Why was he the best military commander of WWII, or even of all time? Your thoughts on him?

>tfw watched the whole show in German and he was talking in Saxonian while Schulz was Bavarian

There's the possibility that he was secretly Nimrod, the best Allied secret agent in Germany, hinted at in one episode so there's that.

Wowsers! Are you for serious?
When will the technology for fast learning of skills be invented?
Played the new prey and you level up by using neuromods to acquire new skills copied from smart people.
The technology would probably be incredible expensive at the beginning, letting rich people's children skip school entirely.

I'm just now getting into philosophy, and I've decided to read some of the literature available. However I'm struggling, because philosophical texts are significantly more verbose than anything I've ever read. Does anyone have any recommendations for texts to read, or tips on how to boost comprehension on the more difficult works to read? Thanks in advance!
>"America has the strongest military in the wor-"
> Modern American armed forces are equatable to the military in 1812
The american military of the war of 1812 was most certainly not the strongest military in the world, and no one ever claimed it was.
Now read the sticky then return to whatever shithole board you came from.

eastern rome paid a lot of the invading armies to fuck off
that picture in particular uses the faction flags for sassanid persia (left) and the eastern roman empire (right), and possibly refers to how justinian I, arguably the most well known, liked, accomplished, and famous emperor of eastern rome paid gigantic subsidies to the sassanids so he could 1) try to reconquer the west and 2) so they would fuck off. even after the sassanids didn't fuck off and started another wave of hostilities when belisarius was campaigning in italy, justinian continued to agree to detrimental deals for the empire an pay crippling amounts of money to the persians.
From the standpoint of a late medieval/early modern leader, are heretics (same religious group, different denomination) or heathens (different religious group) worse?
Pic unrelated

What's worse.
Me getting your order wrong but the food is still top tier (since you can't wait any longer and it's discounter 50%) or me getting it right but it's completely off form what you expected.
Bump for interest. All I know is that Christian heresies were dealt with severely before the Protestant Reformation, and in some places and times Jews and Muslims were tolerated (Sicily), while at other times and places they are most certainly not (Spanish Inquisition). Likewise, the Ottomans famously protected Orthodox and Catholic Christians within their borders but did all they could to remove Shiites. But I'm no expert and I know nothing about it apart from Europe, so it would be interesting to read a more knowledgeable person's answer.
It seems more circumstance and political expedience than anything, usually. Which I know is a non-answer, but as >>3013580 noted it varied considerably in different times and places. Even the 30 years war was so politically motivated that it's hard to label it a war over heresy, and the imperial army even had proddies in it.
wtf is sophistry and why is the Socratic method not considered a form of it?
>>3013196
>wtf is sophistry
Wut I dun like.
>why is the Socratic method not considered a form of it?
Cuz I like it. Cuck bitch.
Sophistry in the classical sense, wasn't a consistent ideology. 'A sophist' literally translates into 'a wise man'. Sophists were basically rhetoricians that elite fathers hired for their son to give them sick oratory skill in order to persuade (or cheat) their way through politics.
Socratic method can be apart of it if it's done to just trick your opponent or draw them out in a pointless trivial semantic discussion in attempt to cherry-pick any minor trip they might make in doing so just to exploit it and make them look stupid. But in essence, it's literally just self-evaluating a thing, but just with an interlocutor prompting it.
