Can someone briefly explain this whole Aryan migration thing to me? I understand that the Aryans traveled and influenced language from France to India, but I don't understand what happened after. What happened to the original Aryans from the Caucus region? How did the Aryans break off into so many different cultures today? Why is Iran the only country that seems to recognize Aryan influence at all?

It's a complicated subject and I promise no one here is an expert. India also has a huge Aryan influence, especially Hinduism. Europe's aryan influence comes from its appearance; the Indo-Aryans introduce blue eyes to Europe. The Germanic Pagan religion, Greek pantheon, and Hinduism, all came from the original Indo-European religions.
The Indo-Europeans began in the Caucuses, yes. They were the early masters of chariot warfare. Because of their strategic position, they moved outwards in all direction. European corpses have been found as far away as Mongolia, and it's thought the Indo-Europeans were the first to bring mettalurgy to Asia.
Chariot warfare was introduced to the Middle-East by the Indo-Europeans. Anatolia (modern Turkey) was heavily Aryanized.

Jews killed Jesus Christ
He likely resented them
Anyone know anything about the Iazyges, in terms of culture, religion, or post 4th century history? I've seen a lot of conflicting things in all of them.
>>2725370
They were the most western iranian folk, which I find interesting
>>2725392
I've written a lot about them (take a look at their wikipedia page now vs in 2015 if you'd like to see), I just can't find shit on their religion, and almost nothing on their language and culture. I pretty much wrote the entire article, so everything that is there is what I know.

Technically the Alans went more further than them.
What was the Middle East like under Ottoman control? How did it compare to European rule in the region? How did the subjects feel towards the Ottomans and how much influence is left from the era
I've heard that in general, aside from taxation the Ottomans basically just left all the existing structures in place, which was why it was so easy to pick apart the empire.
>>2725367
Ottoman empire was not as good as t*rks are saying but they were not as bad as balkanfags want to portray.
Somewhere in the middle, but many national identities are based on ottoman empire in friendly or hostile terms, one way or the other so its really hard to have a thread about it without austistic roaches and butthurt balkans sperging inside

Post things from history that made you sad.
>In 1808, Amelia had a severe attack of measles and the depressed atmosphere at home with her mother in Windsor made her even more miserable. The anxious King George decided to send Amelia to Weymouth, with her sister Mary. Her health was improved only a little, but she found comfort in quietly resting. In 1809, she could occasionally take short walks in the garden. This improvement was but temporary, however, and in August 1810 her sufferings grew sharper, whilst in October of that year she was seized with St. Anthony's fire (erysipelas), which cut off all hope and confined her to her bed on the 25th. The king summoned his daughter's physicians to him at seven o'clock every morning and three or four other times during the day, questioning them minutely as to her condition. She lingered a few days more, waited upon to the last by her favourite and devoted sister, Mary. Her 2 November death occurred on her brother Edward's birthday.
> Amelia's oldest brother the Prince of Wales was devastated when she died. So deeply affected was he by her death that after her funeral, he could never again sleep in a room that was not lit by several wax candles. He also burst into tears at the mention of her name more than three years after her demise.
>The dying princess had a mourning ring made for the King, composed of a lock of her hair under crystal set round with diamonds. He purportedly burst into tears upon receiving it.
>Her death is partly credited to the decline in her father's health which resulted in his insanity. According to his doctor Dr. Willis, the king would later cry "in a wild, monotonous, delirious way, 'Oh Emily, why won't you save your father? I hate all the physicians..." Another of King George's delusions included the belief that a healthy Amelia was only staying in Hanover with a large family of her own, where she would "never grow older and always be well."

Hey /his/ I want to tackle a grand project this summer, one that I can learn from and struggle with. I've decided to do a biographical comic of Napoleon.
I'm here to ask what time period is the most interesting when it comes to Napoleon, and what you guys would be interested in seeing in a comic form.
I intend to do as much research as possible to make an accurate and powerful comic to represent such a harrowing figure.

If you want the money, go 'Young Napoleon'
>MAIN TITLES
>INT. DORMITORY BRIENNE - NIGHT
>It is still dark on a freezing winter morning. The boys are being awakened by a monk, loudly ringing a bell. Candles are lit. Napoleon, age 9, sun-tanned, leaps out of bed, rubbing his arms and shivering. He tries to pour a pitcher of water, discovering that it has frozen solid.
NAPOLEON
>Who has been putting glass in my pitcher? Look here, someone has filled my pitcher with glass!
DUFOUR
>Oh, my goodness! Someone has filled Bonaparte's pitcher with glass. Now, who on earth would do a thing like that?
BREMOND
>Oh, heavens, look someone has filled my pitcher with glass too!
MONK
>Silence! Silence! You should not make fun of Monsieur Bonaparte, he comes from a country where it is never very cold. He has probably never seen ice before.
DUFOUR
>Never seen ice before? Oh, dear me -- how very odd.
The boys snicker. Napoleon glares at them.
Go for edgy /r9k/er Napo. Don't forget to include Werther.

If we can unify the Balkan And Eastern Europe then why can't we fuckin unify the middle east. It's literally the same bit of conflict...
>People fighting over artifical borders
>mix of cultures and people's and religions
>mix of nationalism and extremist views
>terrorist groups plague the area
>fighting erupts daily and economy is in the gutiers.
The middle east is literally the Balkansame from 1880-1946. The only difference is that it took two world wars and a little bit of genocide to finally straighten shit out.
Now what are we currently trying to prevent in the middle east? Dare I SAY? Genocide and world war?
makes you wonder... should we just let it happen, and Maybe finally there will be stablility.
>We can unify the Balkans
uhhhh....
The balkans were a shitshow as early as the 1990s early 2000s, we recently had a civil war in the Ukraine that's still an ongoing geopolitical conflict, I don't think you know what you're talking about when you said we 'unified' these places.

When asked about if or not Stalin would create an authoritarian dictatorship shithole out of Eastern Europe, FDR responded:
>'I just have a hunch that Stalin is not that kind of a man. [...] I think that if I give him everything I possibly can and ask for nothing from him in return, noblesse oblige, he won't try to annex anything and will work with me for a world of democracy and peace'
What's the deal with people shitting on Chamberlain for his 'peace for our time' speech, but FDR, who is a massively anti-american bag of shit, gets zero heat for being entirely wrong about the intentions of Stalin?
>implying if FDR hadn't kept lived longer he wouldn't have kept joe in check

You mean work together to make the world safe for international communism.
I noticed this whenever I look at maps of North America. Why is it that in the regions that were colonized by the English so much more secular than the French and Spanish, who would name nearly every town after something Catholic related. For example in Montreal's main city streets that are religion based are
Rue St Catherine
Rue St Marc
Rue St Antoine
Rue St Jacques
Rue Notre Dame
Along with other Geographics regions like the St Laurence river, Notre Dame mountains, Jesus Island (second main island of Montreal), Anticosti Island (bastardization of Assumption), St Jean Lake,St Francois river, among others, other French Catholic names outside of Quebec include St Louis, Lake St Claire and so on. Spanish areas have San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Santa Monica, San Antonio, Sacramento and so on.
This starkly different compared to English regions. For example, where I live, Vancouver, there is not one neighbourhood related to Christianity, nor is there a City or road, or maybe there are, but much much less so than areas the French and Spanish took over. Why is this?
>>2724914
Because they where not versed at Zoroastrism?
>>2724914
France and Spain were Catholic and were conquering lands not just for their monarchs, but in the name of God too.
England was Anglican during colonization and most of the colonists were religious minorities anyway.
Are there any modern societies that still practice feudalism?
>>2724860
feudalism is ingrained in practically all hierarichies. You owe a favor to someone above you for your position, and return someone below you owes you a favor for his position.
Soviet-type nomenklatura was a feudalism on its own.
>>2724880
>and return
*and in return
There are a few absolute monarchies left, but generally the monarch gives (or at least gives the illusion) of free choice to his people.
