A container is a form of operating system virtualization that is more efficient than typical hardware virtualization.
I'm selling a sager p170em. Everything on it works except for the GPU. I bought it for $1650 5 years ago, and currently have a gaming pc which I use instead. Is it a fair price to sell it for 450 bucks; or am I lowballing myself?
Laptop Stats:
i7 Core i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30 GHz
8GB RAM
750GB HDD
AMD 7970M (Doesn't Work)
>>58928727
Hows the overall condition?
Battery still fine?

For why tho
Thoughts?
Seems like a waste to refresh this soon with cannon lake by end of the year.
Just an excuse to keep the price high

What tf is happening to my terminal font? Sometimes when I open a new terminal, it starts showing like left handside in pic related
Using urxvt on Arch
>Using rxvt-unicode when you cannot understand letterspacing.URxvt.letterSpace: -1
But maybe the Gnome terminal or something is a better choice for you.
>>58928569
I tried bro with URxvt*letterSpace: -4 and although it fixes the spacing, this is not my font from right handside in OP

Why do I even need an OS when my browser already does everything?
The only time I use the OS is when booting into it and launching firefox.
I think operating systems are outdated, they should just be kernels that run firefox on top.
You're fucking stupid.
You posted a frog, so that's not surprising.

You can't define emacs as just a simple editor.
Emacs is a functional working environment by its own.
Suggest me some quality rechargeable batteries, /g/.
And preferably a quality recharger station too.

the only ftp client I ever really used has been filezilla. What else is there that is good or is there a reason why everyone suggests filezilla?
Linux user here.
use rsync or scp. I heard those are good. I have been using filezilla for a bit though, works pretty well
>>58928219
eh, any potential time I could save in terminal I would waste double checking all my spelling properly.
>>58928291
you can probably set up some scripts or aliases to do pretty much everything for you, but I don't blame you. I use filezilla because i'm lazy. It's good enough to get the work done and nothing else is needed if you don't want to use the commands.
Is it kill or can I still save it?

Drives die, and there's no good way of predicting when they will. Deal with it. Use redundancy and make proper backups.

Im currently preparing for giving coding/ computer lessons to a class of kids (10-14) and every module starts with reading an article. But I dont want just go with the default shit like "history of the computer" etc but like every 3 weeks have a "tinfoil week" or something like that.
do you know any crazy/ hard to believe/ tinfoil tech and coding related events or stories I could look into?
I saw some shit here over the years but never bothered to keep track of it. so shame on me.

Whats the best SQL db?
I like postgres.
>>58927980
MSSQL and Oracle generally have the best features and tooling. As long as your company is footing the bill and not you they're the best.
>>58927986
Postgres is shit for any decent sized application. I have to admin it for our Jira and Confluence installs and it's pretty awful.

Please elaborate.

Yeah what the fuck same here I blue screen after about 5 minutes into my first boot each day.
>>58927916
>>58928224
Did you think to, I don't know, look up the blue screen errors in order to determine the problem? Only a fucking (dog loving) idiot reinstalls their operating system because the system crashes once. Would you kill your dog for taking nap because its tired? I bet you would you fucking piece of horse shit. I hate you so fucking much.

Why did I even set up that backup from my desktop? I never restore if my OS gets fucked, I always reinstall fresh anyway
You didn't set it up windows does it for you. Its one of the first things I do when I fresh install. Also disable hibernate if you haven't.
