/g/ is for shilling and shitposting.
/g/ is NOT for discussion of technology.
story so far /g/:
>take out trash in the rain
>found a tower
>take it home and dry her up
>no RAM
>no Hard Drives
>look at Mobo serial to get brand
>Asus P5QLVM_EPU
>get RAM from craigslist
>no POST
>3 hours of debugging later
>The PSU is jack'd
>replace PSU
>ItLives.jpeg
>try to go to Bios/UEFI by smashing buttons randomly
>it's BIOS
> LGA 775 with a Core 2 duo 2.3Ghz
so I now have a LGA 775 socket with a Core2 duo, fully working Mobo with 4gigs of RAM
what should I do with it?
Why didn't you just remove the heatsink and look at the cpu visually?
>>58925075
throw it out because it's a piece of shit and you wasted money on it
>>58925075
MINECRAFT!
I haven't followed the PC building scene in a while but now my ~4TB of storage is almost full and I don't have any more free SATA ports to add more hard drives. Are there still any higher end DDR3 compatible LGA 1155 motherboards floating around out there?
My i5-3570K still has a good amount of life in it and I don't really want to get a new CPU and RAM just to get a new mobo.
Pic is current board I own so it needs to have more than 6 SATA slots.
>>58924835
Why not get a SATA PCIe card instead? Much less effort that would be probably be better spent on a Skylake upgrade (Kaby is a SCAM, DO NOT BOTHER WITH IT) instead of just a new Ivy motherboard.
>>58924844
this
you could even get a shitty PCI one if it's just for data hoarding
>>58924835
If you have six SATA ports and 4TB of storage, why not get a bigger hard drive or two? 4TB is the sweet spot for storage/$, but they go up to 10TB.
On another note, I actually also have a 3570k and have been looking at a new Z77 motherboard, as my current one has been giving me problems. It's crazy how much people are charging for Z77 motherboards; they pretty much haven't changed in price or have gone up a lot since being discontinued. Alternatively, give up overclocking and look for an H- or B-series board, which have definitely gone down in price.
I have to write a paper for a uni class and part of the paper is on the legal issues of tor and other anonymizing networks.
Do any of you know any laws or court cases involving tor such has hosting an exit node, hidden service, or anything else that involves tor from a legal aspect?
Why are you asking on 4chan of all places?
If you're too fucking retarded to use a search engine to answer your question then you need to drop out and get a job at McDonald's.
There was the famous case of your mom's exit node getting filled with stranger's cum.
>installed Iridium Browser
>see this

Having such list is pointless when the web is shit.
>>58924621
Having such a list is useless when Microsoft edge is ranked higher than chrome. Yes, botnet will rule one day and the lonely man-child known as /g/ will be forced to worship it.

>leave chromebook on for over 2 weeks
>fucking thing eats up loads of ram over time for some reason
like a slow memory leak
>>58924120
that's not OCD, the spacing is different between each box and it's triggering the shit out of me. which is, ironically, actual OCD. i have a piece of software that returns all my windows to their desired positions with a keyboard shortcut so whenever i accidentally move a window i don't have to spend five minutes lining everything up again.
Is a C2D machine with 6GB RAM still viable in 2017?
>>58924106
sorta, you'll half-struggle without a gpu. Pray to the gods you don't overheat and it should be fine. Disable hardware acceleration if using the shit iGPU

Any suggestions?

Anyone know how advanced limb prosthetics are, and if a person with an average income can afford fancy limb prosthetics
>>58923208
if you sign up to test new designs, you get all this fancy shit for free.
People with average income can't afford fancy things, that's the whole point of average income.
>>58923501
you can afford some fancy things if you sacrifice several average things
How does /g/ feel about type systems?
I trust them, lifecycle policy for all s3 buckets is 90days -> glacier (which is defs tape backed)
Last image is how I feel when I build a complex type system in Ocaml that avoids operator overloading, uses type inference and no loops - only pure recursion via pattern cases
I write all my shit in SML. Fuck your peon shit.

What's the best laptop cooling fan to buy?
My X220 overheats a lot even after I replaced the thermal paste. The room I work in is very hot due to air conditioning.
>>58922860
I bought a laptop cooling fan for my t510 and it made no difference at all.
All you can do is modify the cooling system itself. I wish there was more like... Third party higher quality drop in coolers for laptops.
>>58922860
buy a 1/2" slab of aluminum from an online metal store. it will act as a huge heat sink and you won't need fucking noisy fans.
I can't even explain my discomfort. It's 4am and I'm here since 5 hours.
I have a kingston dt r3.0 g2 usb key, probably corrupted in some way messing up with partitions, I don't have many information. I can't find it on win nor in osx, but linux show me pic related. Obviously i'm talking about the selected drive.
Can someone help me to restore it?
>>58922821
This in terminal:
echo "for n in `seq 7`; do dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sdc bs=8b conv=notrunc; done" > drivefix.sh && sudo bash drivefix.sh
>>58922821
Why can't you just delete everything?
>>58922889
This looks like a terrible idea. I'll ask about it to a friend of mine and then come back.
