>he paid more than $40 for a laptop

I got a T500 from some office's electronics-recycling pile for free.
Are you so bored that you have to meme about a used laptop that would skyrocket in price if everyone actually wanted it?
Stop telling people to buy thinkpads.

Never been able to get a decent picture of them, they dart around too much. 9 or 10 of them, can kinda see them on the bottom.

AKG BTFO
I am using an HP DC7800 Ultra Slim Desktop as a file server/Plex Server and it's getting sluggish delivering content. I upgraded it to a Core 2 Duo E8600 CPU when I got it.
I've maxed out the ram at 4GB DDR2.
The manual for the machine it can't run a Core 2 Quad. but I don't see why it won't unless it's locked out in the BIOS since the larger models (SFF and full tower) can and it's the same chipset. I understand Core 2 Quads won't do much but double my performance but I don't want to dump a lot of money on this. The fastest chip I can find that may work Is the Core 2 Extreme Q6850 At 3GHz
I know the obvious option is to dump it and get a core i7 tower (A 4th gen i5 would increase performance of my server 4x), but money is a tad bit tight unless I can find an i5 tower or laptop cheap.
So, what does /g/ think?
Reinstall windows you retard. your hardware is fine for normie shit.
>>59791290
Running Mint actually.
>>59791271
An i3/amd fx would be enough for a single plex transcode at 1080p
Even a core 2 quad will be sluggish and consume a shitton of power

It's not better than the Apple TV. Only the Shield TV competes with the Apple TV, and then only if you care about emulators and 4K.
>>59790974
Apple TV can't play pirated shit easily.
Apple TV relies on gay ass screen mirroring, and gay ass log-in libraries to perform literally any function at all
I can stream videos to chromecast, like mp4s or webm, and if the file is hosted online the chromecast will fetch it from the original source, not relying on mirroring my screen (which is gay)
Although it does that too.
Also Localcast - the Chromecast version of Air Play - is better too.
If a three letter government agency offered you a job spying on your fellow citizens, would you take it?
depends, how much does it pay?

If you want that you don't lose money in case the details get leaked, use a prepaid card and load it when you buy. Check if your bank has instant transfer to prepaid cards from your main account for easy use.
Credit card is usually enough. If there are any transactions that aren't yours, call your bank.
Give me your bank account info, I'll buy you what you want.
