Someone who's heart is held in a large cathedral-like structure. it's large and empty inside that kind of holding place, relatively speaking anyhow. It sits in the back on a makeshift altar of sorts. A large imposing gargoyle sits at the front of the cathedral entrance grimacing a fiendish toothy grin. The amount of detail it's sculpted with is to the point where it's almost lifelike. Gnarled claws, and leathery wrinkled skin, it's actually pretty scary looking so most people avoid walking by it, understandably so. One person however seems to like the aesthetic of it and walks up to it, pats it on the head almost like one would do to a friendly well known guard dog and with a spring in their step continues on inside the empty abandoned cathedral.

Seems that there might be a sense of thing in terms of scale and in appearances. The cathedral is a huge empty space to house something simple and small like a heart. A whole building hardly needs to be dedicated to that. It feels small and isolated in there all alone.

The second figure is the gargoyle, ugly, lifelike, and a monster at heart. But one meant to keep evils at bay, something so despised and reviled that even evil wants to steer clear.

The third is the gal who waltzes into the cathedral and pets the gargoyle like a lapdog.

I think the heart is yours, the gargoyle a type of situation that keeps people at bay, or a well refined defense mechanism, Might even be a person who's actions are malevolent or harsh, but done for your protection, and the person who's willing to look past the ugliness and loneliness of the situation may just someone either naive or perhaps optimistic and brave. Hard to tell if they're just walking to their own beat of things, or if they're just happy to stick around for something like that.

tldr; it seems like a matter of building yourself up based on internal situations rather than the circumstance or life place you find yourself in. Try to focus less on the situation or what it's demanding/asking of you and instead make it a goal to overcome internal strife to be stronger and more imposing in those cases. Courage is about overcoming fear regardless of situation, if you pick when and how you can be brave it's not really coming from within. Courage is the idea of being self disciplined enough to know when to say "i'll do it but I'm not gonna like it" any time and anywhere when it may be needed.

I get where you're coming from but it seems risky to want that kind of thing looming over you. It's subtle sure and it may never really even come up, but It just seems like an excuse for this person to direct frustrations at if they end up jaded or unhappy in it all. It's possible, but the real question I'd ask is if it's worth it or this would make you happy, really think it over and try again if you really do feel this is a good idea. Just reminds me of an old married couple that you can hardly tell if they hate each other, or are just old and bitter at the world. just omitted it since i had a lot more reads tonight that I intended to pick up, sorry about that. Vision was a boxer getting slugged over and over, spitting up blood and taking a real beating but refusing to go down. Having the stamina to hang in there and hope that they can still win the match, taking a beating but staying in it instead of tapping out even if it's rough and destroying them. They want to win people on the sidelines cheer for them to hang in there and the other half to just quit before it kills them.
