There was a grave error in the way you approached things with this. If anything having F intervene pissed her off something good. She is trying to think of escapes from the situation and will leave it all if a chance comes before her because she feels that the situation is not safe in her eyes. This worry is not exactly rational but it is because she is a bit immature emotionally. Her behavior in general is not rational right now and I think you are aware of her immaturity and expected all of this to happen.

A better way to to upon it would be to give the child a toy and earn her favor versus brute tactics. It's actually flood that kill people here.
Some peeps have bad perception. My city is made of highways and there's like another street that goes under the highway which kind of dips down a bit and whenever there's a very big storm it floods.
And people are people and they want to get to places and they might want to cross this little makeshift lake. So yeah there's been many cases of people dying in their cars because the water wasn't actually a shallow as they had imagined.

They appear to be fairly congruent. I double-checked with yes/no and pulled Knight of Wands/King of Cups rev. Solid yes.

I will say that, while he meant exactly what he said, his statement was guided by a strong amount of emotion. It's kind of like those people who become too honest when they drink. It's not necessarily that they are being more or less truthful, it's more of an inhibited truth. It may not be the ultimate truth, but it's definitely there, just usually restrained.
