Finally a real vampire thread.
Ok so I cant be arsed finding sources for everything and most of this is gona be off memory....
The modern vampire seems to mostly be formed from modern media such as books and movies.
for example Dracula is the big one
as well as The Vampyre and Nosferatu etc
while Dracula was based off vlad tepes
I dont see any proof he was a vampire just a maniacal Wallachian prince/king that liked to torture and lead through fear.
But
there is a lot of strange real world shit that adds to the vampire mythos as well.
such as Vampire graves which was the occurence of dead bodies being discovreed to have rocks ramed into thier mouths and stakes through the heart when they were burried.
There is also a few Photosensitivity cases like Polymorphous light eruption (PMLE) which usually appears as an itchy rash on sun-exposed skin

another interesting thing is that vampires have been a widespread myth all over the world for fucking ages. Russia, China , Japan, Africa, England etc all have vampires in their folk lore and legends.
the reasoning to this is that Vampires like gods and demons etc were used as a way to explain the unknown.
a theory is when people saw body decomposition ie the body shriveling up they assumed it was because the blood or life force was being drained.
it was also used as an explanation of mass deaths due to disease etc where a whole town was wiped out in a period of days yet when people went to investigate they were uneffected by it.
there's also the theory vampires were based off of Porphyria victims who would sometimes drink blood in a way to treat it.

there's a bunch of ideas of where it came from but what I find interesting is that its such a universal concept. before all the movies and shit there were folk tales of shadowy figures drinking the blood of innocents

The main issue is that everything are just stories.
there have been no credible modern day sightings.
no one has come forward as one, if they are all in hiding they have not been discovered and even if in hibernation still no one has seen them.
Im afraid Its probably just a myth unlike "zombies" in the voodoo sense where there are videos of people coming back from being dead vampites are just pop culture at this point.

Hooking up and dating aren't love. It is a personal peeve of mine that people refer to it as so. With that said, I'm not talking about you. It's all lust, and that bothers me how it has been exchanged for love. It seems everyone wants your lust first now days. The few readings that I have had struck a nerve, a touch too close for comfort. The last one I had advised me against going off into the sunset as I have been planning, away from everyone I know. Assuming the normal rules of uncontrollable transformation, at the full moon, etc etc there is simply no way that werewolves continue to exist. But even if they could transform controlled and are intelligent in beast-form, the whole idea of instant transformation is extremely reality breaking. The amounts of energy that would be needed to go through a full transformation like that seem very high.

On the subject of werewolves... a bit of derailing since I've shared my thought on vampires before on previous threads, I also think their existence is highly unlikely.
The sources that make sense however, speak more of deranged lunatics, animal identification and some weird stories about a serial killer using a trained hyena.

Honestly from my impression (or what I was told most often by people who claimed to be vampires) is that vampires aren't too different from humans. Allegedly.

They still eat and drink here and there.
They still go out at day time and the sun doesn't burn them alive.
They still have desires to socialize, do normal things and get laid.

Sometimes need to consume blood and don't age. Possibly a bit faster and more sensitive than a human. It's like almost disappointingly normal.

But as usual, all of this could be disinfo or roleplay.
