>flat earther takes a level on a plane to try and prove the earth is flat

How fucking stupid do you have to be to not know how a level works, let alone think the earth is flat? Why the hell would he think this would prove the earth is flat? Even on a globe, assuming the plane is perfectly level, the level would show it as such. Besides, even the tiniest change in position would fuck up the level. The plane itself, turbulence, and even the goddamn try can fuck the readings.

Reminds me of the flat earther who took an altimeter on a road trip.

He started off at sea level, then drove hundreds of miles and he was still at sea level. But according to the round earth, the curvature should take him thousands of feet below sea level.

the mere fact they are flying in a plane proves the earth is flat. i mean, for the love of god.

all you have to do is fly against the rotation of the earth.

its simple. the earth is flat.

trying to convolute it and hide it behind phrases like "symptom of stupidity" is the kind of thing someone who feels stupid says.

there is literally no way to prove the earth is a sphere and all evidence indicates it is a flat stationary plane.

Theoretically lakes must experience tides but the tides would be so small that even in the largest lakes the effect is masked by river inflows and wind and so on, all of which cause greater differences in water height than tides presumably must, so the latter are unmeasurable.

Sunsets are perfectly explainable on the geocentric model. Perspective whether its a camera or our eyesight has a vanishing point causing the illusion of the sun to go beneath the curvature as you've been told in school. When the sun moves away it cause it to go into the vanishing point shrinking in size until its out of our line of sight

https://youtu.be/W2FE-J1z_5A?t=287
>>
>>19032376
The temp data looks google searched.

The sun might go under the flat earth, but the orbiting above theory implies that passed a certain point in distance you just can't see anymore, that's why objects in the horizon dissapear, cause your eye can't see them anymore.
>>
>>19032386
Should the circular shape of the sun not simply continue to get smaller if it's approaching a vanishing point? Why does it instead seem to observably get bigger as it approaches the horizon?

The heat comes from where the sun is closest to, thats why it's hotter on the equator.

See the spring summer and winter illustration on the temp data above
>>
>>19032386
The sun setting is explained on the geocentric model, but not the flat earth model. Those are two different things, retard.

Also the sunset is not explained on the flat earth model.

Hypothetically it could conceivably get so far away that you could not see it any more, which would make it a "vanishing point", but that vanishing point would be several dozen degrees high in the sky, not on the horizon.

Furthermore, the sun does not go so far away that it disappears, it drops below the horizon with the same angular size that it has at noon.

In fact, you can watch the sun disappear below the curve of the horizon until it is out of view, and then simply increase altitude and bring the sun back into view by looking over the curve. None of that would make sense in a flat earth.
>>
>>19032358
People believed that the earth was a plane until Pythagoras first came up with the idea of a spinning ball earth, his reasoning for the ballearth was that he thought he could see the ship go under the horizon, this is something that can be proven false today since we something called zoom that they didnt have back then.

It diffuses from points of most contact with what its diffusing to.

A disk heated from a tight ring around the middle would still have the center of that ring be far hotter than the outer edge.
>>
>>19032403
So then why is it displaying the south pole as having the same temp as the north pole. According to the round earth they receive the same amount of sunlight each year.

But according to the flat earth model you've got there, the north pole receives far more sunlight. The sunlight only touches the "ice wall" at one point at any time of day and the rest is in darkness, but it's touching the north pole very second of the day.
>>
>>19032415
Pythagoras had nothing to do with the ball earth.

Ships don't go under the horizon, they go over the horizon.

Furthermore, using "zoom" with modern telescopes, you still see the same thing the Ancient Greeks saw. Ships go over the horizon. You just see it more clearly.

The sun is aprox 1,135km in diameter, but there is no way of really knowing and the sun is over 600 times closer than they say it is, have you ever wondered why the temp differences are so huge depending on the time during the day, if the sun was 90 million miles away from us there would be no difference. Why does the sun rays come from different angels when its supposedly so far away?
>>
The Earth is flat with respect to all the dimensions you're more than capable of perceiving, but overtly set on pretending don't exist.

You're not supposed to take the statement literally, even the Bible doesn't intend it this way.
>>
>>19032439
>but there is no way of really knowing and the sun is over 600 times closer than they say it is

If it were 600 times closer, it would be pretty easy to tell and measure. Just use parallax.

How do you think they measured 93 million miles in the first place?

> have you ever wondered why the temp differences are so huge depending on the time during the day

No, it's really pretty obvious that direct sunlight is going to heat up things more than sunlight at a sharp angle.

>Why does the sun rays come from different angels when its supposedly so far away?

You mean at dawn and dusk instead of at noon? Because the earth is curved, you mong.

Or do you mean like in your picture? All those rays are parallel. They just appear to converge because of perspective.

like in this dumbass's picture.

Yes thats why you can always see the sun on the northpole. The southpole doesn't exist, no magnetic south only magnetic north

There are docutments from sailors back in the day trying to find a gap in the icewall on the flat earth map, there was no gap.

You can't always see the sun from the north pole. The north pole gets six months of darkness. Meanwhile, the south pole gets six months of light.

>the south pole doesn't exist

Thousands of tourists visit the south pole every year. It is in a different location than the magnetic south pole, same as with the north.

You can go to the south pole at night and on a clear day if you look up, the stars appear to trace perfect circles around your position, just like it does at the north pole.

There are no sailors who tried to find a cap in the "ice wall." By the time sailors got to Antarctica, it was quit clear the world was round. It's really rather obvious to anybody who navigates by the stars.

Maybe you're thinking of the people who looked for the Northwest Passage. A navigable route around the north of Canada.

And no, zooming in doesn't bring the hull of the ship back into view. It only makes the portion of the ship above the horizon look larger. If you want to bring the ship back into view, you have to gain altitude in order to see over the curve.

Not really. The ancient Greeks made estimates that were only off by about half.

Once modern astronomy came along Christopher Huygens measured it fairly accurately in the 17th century.

Sure there have been minor refinements to it but only like the fifth or six significant figure, and that sort of thing goes for any sort of scientific measurement.

There's never been an anomaly that's debunked the earth globe. Sure there are probably things that you don't understand, but that's just you being stupid, not an anomaly with the model.

Here's a better one. Pretty sure some doofus at The Verge made a screenshot and forgot to move the cursor.

Makes me kinda sad and slightly nauseous. I think I rather not for the sake of my own sanity.

>>19032704
>people even genuinely believe in fucking sky fairies, ghosts, whatever fucking shit the TV/Internet tells them

Sure, and like I said before, I think people can believe in whatever they want to as long as their belief aren't spreading in a hostile type way like this flat earth theory definitely is. At the same time being very damaging to their knowledge on reality.

Flat earthers are not as stupid as people make them out to be. It's true they may be uneducated but they are actually pretty smart in that they are willing to question and challenge things that don't make sense to them rather than just accepting concepts blindly.

Well they could at least attempt to learn about the phenomena that they don't understand, rather than concocting any number of outrageous ideas and conspiracy theories to justify their belief in the flat earth.

I think it started off with a straight up moron that actually believes that shit, and then it became a way for people to troll other people by pretending they believe the "theory". It's fucking sad, regardless.

dude its best not to get top hung up on the topography of the earth. like remember that time the ryuku islands were to the north of japan and were given to the russians at the end of WW2.... yea that didnt happen now and the ryuku are to the south of japan and still japanese property

some one thought it would be a good idea to fuck with the time stream but those tards didnt factor in how far away earth would be from where it is now since the earth orbits the sun and the solar system goes through the galaxy and the galaxy through space...

when they tried to use the butterfly effect to change the land scape of earth. so seconds after the big bang having a difference of 0.0000000000001% change in a small splotch of space changed a lot some how but not all that much

point is some one will probably change shit again. its like that time white people went back in time and killed all the neaderthals and took their place. funny as hell. mostly because it was a one way trip. they didnt have enough fuel to go back into space and make it back to where earth was in the present despite the machine allowing them to move through time

I live out in the boonies and have shitty satellite Internet. I like to play Overwatch, but playing Competitive with 600+ms ping (on a good day) is pretty much impossible.

Anyway, I pack up my desktop computer (pretty modest, but it plays Owatch on high with about 55~ FPS, so I'm content) and make my way to the public library in a nearby town about 7 miles away.

There's this unfortunate looking guy (has NO fucking chin whatsoever) who's also up at the library roughly every day utilizing the library computers to casually surf the Internet for a few hours. Anyway, I walked past this fine specimen on my way to the restroom, and noticed that he was actually looking up flat earth videos on Youtube and taking notes.

It is about being part of a special group and about the world being more mysterious than it is. These people enjoy that they "found out" that is hidden to the average human. By disregarding everything that normally counts as intelligent or succesful they can delude themselves into thinking that they are wiser than the rest of us "sheep".

Flat earthers have several traits in common with regular conspiracy theorists:

They're immensely uneducated and stupid.
They're deeply insecure about themselves.
They've got a bad case of Dunning-Kruger- they're so stupid they don 't realize it, and really think they're smart.

Because they're so insecure, they feel that having some kind of secret knowledge (in this case that the earth is flat and NASA has duped everybody) gives them a sense of purpose and power. Because they know something those jerks who finished high school don't know, it strokes their egos. That's a very powerful and addictive feeling for people naturally so insecure. So they absolutely clutch onto their beliefs and they never let go. They never look at any evidence. They never admit when they are wrong. They claim that their minds are open and they are not deceived by other people, and yet they're easily duped by anybody who agrees with them to believe even more absurd things (for example, "there are no forests on flat earth").

They're a sad people really.
>>
>>19032477

Either you have an actual retard or a retard who thinks he's pretending to be retarded and doesn't realize he's actually retarded.

They should all be lobotomized.

>>19033002
He's right, it's about that height the curvature of the horizon becomes observable to the field of view of the human eye.

He's lying about the balloon cameras though. The curvature of the horizon is easily visible in balloon cameras. If he presents cases where they're not, it's either due to photoshopping, cropping the field of view (avocado example), or ironically, using a fish eye camera to make a curved line look straight.

>>
>>19034212
I think you mean curved, anon.

But yes, they can make curved lines look straight too.

Fish eyed lens bend things. They bend things in a predictable fashioned. So if you're at a high altitude and can see the curved horizon, you can position the horizon just below the center of the frame and it will appear artificially straight.
>>
>>19034306
Yeah i meant curved, if a camera without fish eyed lense would show the horizon as perfectly straight, thats why it would only make sense to use fisheye to make it look curved.
>>
>>19034346
People don't used fisheye lenses to make it looked curved.

The horizon looked curved in normal lenses (provided high altitude).

Fish eye lenses curve things in different directions, depending on where it is in the frame. So yes, again, you can make curved lines straight.

Flat earthers often ironically and hypcritically use fish eye lenses to make the horizon look straight when it's really curved. Try to keep up.

Are you familiar with the term airspeed?
Like speed over water?
For a boat the water and current determines your speed. For a plane it's the wind/air. Groundspeed is just a calculation that is never 100% accurate. Why? Because air and water has no constant speed.
A car has a fixed speed because the tires make a fixed turn. In water and trough air it is completely different.
>If earth was not stationary, planes can not land...
remember the myth about aircraft carriers?
They simply do real. And they surely move, a lot

Your car doesn't show you your real speed either, but hell luckily you know you studied this and can argue against it, right?. It shows your speed minus some really little percentage.
Inb4 citation bullshit. Google "How accurate is your car speedometer" and you will find many sites that explain it and why it even differs depending on where you live.
