If we're talking about using TOR, you can access all the normal shit you would on the internet, minus a few that have proxies blocked . I used to accidentally turn on tor as like the computer proxy years back and would have a mini heart attack most of the time when coming on here. Nearly every tor node was permanently banned for CP so that would flash up and for a split second I'd go through a "have I been hacked or is one of my flatmates a pedo" thought process.

The most fucked up thing I found on there was a site called Cruel Onion Wiki which had over 50gigs of animal torture vids for downloading. It was eventually taken down by LEA. The CP site GirlsHub (I think that was the name) kept getting taken down until it was gone completely. The LEA must've compromised it too. Ever since then I believe most of the illegal deep web are honeypot sites phishing for personal info. That's why you don't really see any of the illegal sites being taken down like they used to.

They were basically full of weird images/texts/poems/riddles that you could click through and try to make sense of. I never understood many of them because they were in foreign languages, but it was fun to click through them and try to figure it out nonetheless.
I assume they were from people who could not share certain views in more restrictive countries, and thus chose to make their place there.
