Magic is a radically empirical enterprise, the only valid explanations are the ones that get YOU to do it and get something out of it.

This produces two paradoxes:

1) NO explanation is potentially equally valid as any given explanation

2) "Magic doesn't exist, does nothing and is entirely delusional" is also equally valid

It is worth mentioning that there exists such a thing as a "psychological model" which eschews any metaphysics that clash with accepted science, and explains everything in terms of tricking yourself and your subconscious to do shit.
