I'm running a tabletop roleplay for my group, and they're really into the supernatural. This game will be about a group of monks who combat various angels, and demonic beings as they attempt to stop the apocalypse. This story is rather bland, and I'm looking for help to make it better for my players, and make it an enjoyable experience. I'm also looking for tips on various mythologies regarding angels and demons.

>random idea for a game:
The Neoplatonic archons, (I dunno what game you're playing, maybe port low level inevitables if you're playing 3.pf) as "administrators" of reality are in a slapfight with the Abrahamic (w/e/) angels as "architects" of reality and are tying to pressure anyone using a Gate or Summon Monster or whatever into taking up missions for this or that side's aim.
For research:

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Probably not, but I could include them if I found a reason to.

A zombie plague would be a cool idea, but at this point it's pretty cliché...
What about some secretive genetic splicing experiments go awry, carried out by the government of course.
Maybe we create the monsters we fear the most
