Appreciated, anon. But I've already seen Grave Encounters 1 & 2. The 'Ghost-Bros Paranormal Investigator' parts are pretty entertaining, but all the frightening moments are jump-scares without context. There's not an underlying story that the 'footage' helps you piece together, no character arcs, no atmospheric dread - just a series of startling ghost chase scenes. I'd watch 'Grave Encounters' with friends at a party, absolutely. But I personally didn't get much out of it.

VHS 1 2 and Viral. Cheesy but surprisingly haunting... the short stories stick with you.

That's quite understandable. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but for me, it's always been one of my personal favorites. The second one is a bit different. Maybe a few scares here and there, but overall just a bit disappointing for a sequel. I heard they'll be making a third one - a prequel to the first one. I'm hoping it will be scary and better than ever. If I could suggest another horror movie to you it would be Dead Silence. Creepy ambiance, well timed jumpscares, and a creepy nursery rhyme to tie it all together. It's not found footage, but probably in my top 3 horror movies of all time.

Much obliged. Will check it out. I'll counter-recommend with 'The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh.' Also not found footage. Written and directed by the editor of 'Rue Morgue' Magazine. Atmospheric, interesting symbolism, good visuals.

For another found footage, OP, try Mr. Jones. Excellent props and scenery, although the end blows its load on winding, mediocre surrealism. I don't regret seeing it, though.

there used to be a site that listed movies with rape and other triggering stuff in them and (I think?) classified them by how graphic they were, and gave brief descriptions so you could decide whether it was too much. the site's gone now though and I haven't found another one like it.
