I'm having trouble getting waves of color to move across spaces like you were able to and I want to see if that is because the places that I thought were empty void in the original picture were regions of differing hue or saturation..

I think it was with 32 bands. so the way the bands work is the entire image is first converted to 8-bit grayscale, where there are 256 possible brightnesses, and then the brightness spectrum is divided into bands based on the number you set. so e.g. if you had only 2 bands, the brightnesses 0-127 would be a band, and 128-255 would be the other band.

I should probably add a function where a low-contrast image is stretched to the full range of brightnesses 0-255, but for now if you want best results you should use an image that already has high contrast. and then just play around with the band count. this one worked great because of how intense the contrast is, and how the brightness clearly flows from one region to another
