Tesseracts are cool but they're getting old to me. I've been going autismal with hyperbolic geometry recently.
This is a dodecahedron with all 90 degree angles. Possible in hyperbolic space.
If anyone has more hyperbolic stuff that'd be great. I'll post a few I've found.
This is the hyperbolic disk. All seemingly curved lines are actually straight lines all at 90 degrees to one another. This is simple horizontal movement.
>I was actually weirded out by this, so I decided to make an animation of it. All movements are entirely in the x direction or y direction and the points are laid out in a typical square grid. Any apparent curving is because of hyperbolic geometry.

>>1175163
The point of the video is to demonstrate that you can take complex geometry and turn it into clearer geometry by adding more dimensions. It does this by using the arguably simplest and clearest example.
The practical uses are simply too any to list. We're talking special relativity and everything it implies about reality just as a starting point.
>>1175284

Special relativity isn't a practical use?

can you name one I can understand? I don't see how special relativity is in any way relevant to what I see in that webm. I was hoping it would be relevant to something CG related, as that's what the webm is showing.

javascript:
Array.from(document.querySelectorAll(".postContainer")).filter(o => !o.querySelector(".file")).forEach(o => o.style.display = "none");

Not that anon, but you could probably recreate something similar this with Comsol.
>>1200337
Electromagnetic waves in particular are caused by changes in the electric and magnetic fields. The EF change causes a change in the MF, which then causes a change in the EF. That anon most likely brought them up because of their orthogonal nature; if EF is changing with regards to the X axis, the MF will experience a resultant change along the Y axis, propagating the entire ripple forward through the Z axis.
There's a strong chance you knew this, but I wrote this out anyways for any potential anon out there who might be interested in this sort of thing.
since it all depends on the planets having different times to revolve around the sun, yeah literally every other planet makes a pattern when compared with any other planet

>>1166248
>from a fourth dimensional point of view, all things are series of linear paths where the "axis" is time.
time is time
dimensional vectors are another thing, 4 dimensional space wouldnt include time, it would be 3 dimensions of space, plus one plus time

I think it's more to do with the specific acoustics of that particular plate.
Any object is going to have a certain frequency response, and it's going to behave in a different way. I the plate were made of some other material, it would make a different pattern.
