I'm not that guy, but he's completely correct. Enunciating? Yes. Speaking clearly? No. The volume varies dramatically between each word, so that about a quarter of the lines are drowned out by the background music.

Fine, here's your subtitled version. I was unhappy with the original webm anyway because his voice was delayed by like 0.2 seconds (since the televangelist is not on-screen when he says the first word, "Hell," in the actual movie; instead it's someone from the last scene).
The only words that are hard to understand at all are, "How do you think your god will judge you?" and maybe "Well friends, now we know." And that's only because he says that part really softly. The rest is perfectly clear, even on my mono phone speaker. To say "the volume varies dramatically between each word" is an exaggeration that is blatantly false and it pisses me off that you would even spout such bullshit.

The scene I wanted to webmify (the freakout scene in the subway tunnel) is too long for me to be able to make with a good bitrate, and I don't want to split it into two scenes, so I'll just do that scene instead.

Fine, I'm sorry for calling you a cuntbag. I was just pissed off because of the encoding times. I'm not going to use WFR though, because I'm on Linux, and it's a Linux sin not to use the command line when you have the option to do so.

Anyway, I suspect that my uncharacteristicly long encoding times may be because I'm not deleting the ffmpeg log file after each webm, because every time I make a new webm from the same movie it seems to take a longer and longer time, but then when I switch to a different movie it takes a much shorter time. Next time I'll try deleting that file after each one, and see if it makes a difference.

2-pass encoding isn't really necessary. I have encoded hundreds of webms using both techniques and, for the most part, I can't tell much of a difference in quality. It actually seems like one-pass CBR tends to show its low-bitrate-blurring (not sure what the term is) mostly just when changing to new iframes/different angles. 2-pass VBR, however, seems to have lesser blur-effects happening constantly and for no real reason. Look at the wallpaper at the end of the webm in >>959873 's post and how it keeps blurring & refocusing every 0.5 seconds even though the image isn't changing.

What do you think of my theory that it's the log file? Do your webms start taking longer and longer to make if you make multiple ones from video files in the same folder, without deleting the log file between each one? Actually, there is just one webm I want to make before I head off to school, just to round off my collection of hammy Neil/Heinz dialogue scenes. (I'll even use two pass encoding, just to be consistent with the previous ones.)

Have any of you guys seen Repulsion, the film Possession is inspired by / paying homage to? It's really, really good, though slightly slower paced and with slightly less blood and murder. I can't think of any particularly webmifiable scenes from it, other than maybe a couple two or three second shots that I really loved, but it's definitely a classic.
