I know S2 upped the fanservice but this just went a little bit too far

CGI with semi-realistic shading: harlock movie, kingsglaive
with manga style/cel shading: there are very few things that could be called "good", but things have been improving since ~2013. And toei's precure EDs have a ridiculous amount of effort thrown at them for what they are.
This season there's at least 4 shows that at least partially use CGI for characters
>ID-0
>berserk
>kado
>FAG
>>1652872
vampire hunter d is slated to get some cgi from digital frontier
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Frontier
unless it was canceled
>>1652882
I was only talking about things that exist. The future always looks rosier.
>>1652887
>The future always looks rosier.
maybe. in my mind, cgi leads to them relying on mocap, which is restricted to human data, so any small or odd moving creatures are out, stifling creativity a bit
still, better than puppets or rotoscoping. that shit in new game or in the end credits of seraph of the end made me puke
>>1652897
Pretty sure most CG studios don't use mocap regularly. Too expensive. And you notice the characters moving around in a fairly stiff manner.
>>1652597
>new thread
>it's worse than the last again
but of fucking course.
>>1652633
It doesn't matter if a lot of people pay attention to it or not, even if just 1-2 people do, then it already matters and worth the VERY small effort.
It's about having a good, quality, OP, and not just throwing out some lazily done shit
>>1652633
>he thinks he speaks for everyone
>>1652951
>waahhhh...he's not linking to my other redundant animu threads
those 1-2 people will be fine without those
Fresh off the presses!
(Major, major spoiler, by the way.)
>>1652959
We already have, at the very least, 3 people, if not way more, that give a shit for it.
So instead of including said people you're excluding them for your own retarded sake and to cover your bases, good job retard.
>>1652969
I need to get around to watching S2. I have all 4 eps downloaded
>>1652995
I say this as a reader of the manga: I have been fucking DYING for them to get to season 2 for literally years now, because the place where things started getting REALLY crazy in the manga was right where season 1 left off. And it just gets crazier and crazier as it goes on. The revelations and twists and turns just never stop coming.
>>1653000
does season 2 have pacing issues season 1 had?
Like three episodes to MOVE A DAMN ROCK
>>1653006
Dif anon here.
>Didn't bothered about the manga / show one bit beofore
>Play the game and enjoying my time
>Finally decide to watch the show and highly enjoying my time with it
>It took them 3 fucking episodes to move the god damn rock when i did that in near to no time in-game
To be fair, it probably felt like far less time because i was cutting up titan's left right and center, but still, jesus.
>>1653006
Hahaha, I think those sorts of chapters were mainly near the beginning of the manga.
Take comfort in the knowledge that season 2 is only going to be 12 episodes. So they really can't afford to spare that kind of time. There's a LOT of story to tell between chapters 34 and 50 of the manga, which I think is roughly what the season will be covering.
>>1653006
>>1653007
The first season was a mess at times especially during the Rock thing.
They ran out of time to get the episodes finished so we had scenes that were partly untextured (the purple titan foot being the most glaring) and entire scenes that weren't ready so they just slowed down the scenes on either side to fill in the gap (webm related)
>>1653033
>Those slow downs
Good fucking lord, what in the fuck?
I've watched the Blu-Ray release and don't have a good memory, but was this in there too?
>>1653033
Like, I love AOT, but I won't defend the rock thing, or the like two episodes where they were literally just riding horses through the forest while Annie followed them.
Those were literally in the fucking manga. That wasn't just poor budget or whatever. That was just straight-up the author's fault.
Fortunately, I don't think he's done that since then (other than for a few fight scenes, which will, of a necessity, go much faster when animated). The manga since then has been very well paced in my opinion, and constantly has a feel of ever escalating tension and complexity.
>>1653038
I've never seen the BD releases, heck I dropped the anime partway through S1.
The one I posted was the most glaring, but even as I watch the episode you hear people talking when they aren't on screen, audio not matching the action and slowdown that may/may not be for the cool factor,
Anyone who has the BD can point out any differences I'm sure
For the hell of it just rewatched the episode and stuck anything that stood out onto a webm.
>>1653111
It's probably a bit of both. Lots of this stuff was fixed in the Blurays, but most people didn't really seem to notice or care when it was airing. I attribute this to people not wanting to criticise "non-moe" anime.
At least S2 is shaping to be way better than S1.
>>1651614
>>1651615
Meanwhile at DEEN (and with a shitty dub to boot)
>>1653127
>At least S2 is shaping to be way better than S1.
Thank fucking god. I originally wanted to wait for the BD, and still am right now, but maybe I'll watch it once S2 aired fully using the TV release.
>>1653140
the UBW movie was fucking horrible in every sense of the word. Honestly even the old 2006 DEEN anime is better than it.
>>1653154
It certainly got everything so wrong it was almost deliberate.
It is still the only BD release I have ever seen that still carried the old bright yellow blocky subtitles from the bad old DVD/VHS days
>>1653172
The whole thing is as bad as you want it to be
Fresh from the oven.
>>1653472
No, it’s the right thread. This is the anime thread. That’s like saying mecha shows don’t belong on /a/ because /m/ exists. Retarded.
Not to mention that the reason I posted this isn’t even the OP itself.
>>1653474
Fuck off cunt and post it into the OP / ED thread as it should
>the reason I posted this isn’t even the OP itself.
>literally only posted a webm of the OP, and nothing else.
>hur dur i posted it for other reasons than the OP itself xD
>>1653474
So by your reasoning we should just merge /m/ and /a/ if it ends up that 1/3 of the threads on /a/ end up being mecha because the muppet OPs are deliberately ignoring /m/'s existance?
Shall we just make a single thread called anime + monogatari OP/EDs and have it fill up with the same reposts everyday?
The point of split off threads and boards is to keep any one area from being too busy resulting in multiple reposts and making it harder for everyone in general to keep track of the content
>>1653508
Christ you complain alot.
Who made you the animu post police.
Chill out faggot.
>>1653511
>So by your reasoning we should just merge /m/ and /a/ if it ends up that 1/3 of the threads on /a/ end up being mecha because the muppet OPs are deliberately ignoring /m/'s existance?
No, that’s your reasoning, and it’s dumb.
The other reasons you list are all safe and sound though, and that’s precisely why I’m not posting the same old Monogatari OP here.
>>1653508
>literally only posted a webm of the OP, and nothing else
So the filename didn’t tip you off?
>>1653474
to be fair who goes to /a/ for giant robots?
it's all moe, harem, and fanservice trash
>>1653519
Everyone while it airs. /m/ is for preservation of and giving a place to not airing shows that would otherwise go under at the speed /a/ moves at.
>>1653522
>while it airs
but that is when /a/ is worse than usual
>>1653525
Only if you stick to the most popular shows. Niche stuff (like most new mecha inevitably is) is just fine as long as you aren’t walking into the next Code Geass.
>>1653531
but then the problem would be fans of the popular shows spamming stupid shit in the other threads, making it impossible to have a decent thread.
Like when Star Driver was airing, /a/ would spam shit about some shitty harem anime (Infinite Shit, a harem they loved so much they got renamed after it) in the thread calling it the greatest show of all time.
>>1653516
>People make threads for dif purposes so the main thread is a bit cleaner
>FUCK LOGIC AND DUMP EVERY THING INTO THE ALREADY FULL THREAD :D
There literally has to be at least one person that bitches, that's how the world works my lil faggot.
Well regardless I'll just keep posting webms.
Now that I look, the main OP/ED thread hit image limit so he's likely too lazy to make a new one

>It's from 2008
>That fucking sub

I think the cartoon thread is more appropriate for that.
Man, when I was like 14, I had some foreign DVD with the choice of dubs and subtitles, and I remember thinking "Why would you ever use subtitles when they can talk in english?" ... I was so retarded. And yet, I'm still not sure I could answer that question if someone else asked me. Either you get it, or you don't.
>>1655819
There's several objective reasons to point out why subs are better than dubs.
You can only say dubs are better "because reading is too much work/distracting".

Definetly an improvement, closest way to describe it is we would see equivalent quality on here if the filesize limit were raised to around 5-5.5MB

They don't even have to increase the filesize, VP9 support in itself would solve a lot of issues really if you're asking me.
