I fell like that last summer and broke my nose, all my front teeth, and fractured my lower jaw. It was kind of strange, because I think I went into shock right away. Technically what you describe is an acute reaction to stress and not what medicine considers shock, but shock is commonly used this way. Shock in medicine is low/inadequate blood flow to tissues and based on what you described it doesn't sound like you would have been in that state immediately after the injury. Hot springs, traditional food, festivals, kimonos, ect.

Those are cliches actually. Onsen episodes, beach episodes, Valentine's Day episodes, Christmas episodes, New Years episodes, festival episodes etc are just cliche templates for SoL and school setting shows. There's no real intention behind it, it's just authors using established template scenarios that also serve as mile markers in a SoL setting for the passing of the year, those are very seasonal activities/events and are meant to capture the "essence" of a season. Seasonality is a big part of Japanese aesthetics, if you start paying attention to it you will notice seasonal cues in everything.

Just who do you imagine is making anime exactly? Most of it is adapted from a source material written by a single person, it's mostly produced by people who love anime and manga. There's no intention behind it beyond trying to be entertaining.

One thing you will notice the more you watch anime and/or read manga is that it's a medium sustained by cliches.

She knew Satou knew absolutely nothing about her and she knew a lot about him even at that point. I mean, look at Dragonball. Yeah, the one without the "Z". Even though both shows had fictional elements during fights, they had decent choreography and power levels were basically non-existent. Goku didn't beat Tien by powering up, he took the time to analyze and exploit Tien's weaknesses. Naruto didn't beat Zabuza by abusing the stupid vulpix thing inside him, he worked together with his team to outwit Zabuza and releasing Kakashi.

You know I really do agree with you. I think some part of me just overlooks the power up meme side of Z because I always feel that the hate it gets is pretty unmitigated.
