Two areas of research are addressed:
1. Means and mechanics for a human baby to learn to crawl and walk, using an artificial neural net. Question: how "baby-like" does the robot have to be to trigger automatic care responses in human brain chemistry? Previously it's been shown that big "puppy-dog" eyes is the easiest and most effective tool, but this robot obviously doesn't use that.

Babysitting and quality control is much less labor-intensive and needs only one person at any time. For a masonry robot like that you'd also only need to check maybe once every 10 minutes, when it finishes a row. In the meantime you can work on other stuff.
