Just something like this to make use of some of the empty space below it as well as limit the amount of icons on screen. I'm assuming a few of those icons are purely for symmetry and not because you actually do need all of them. If you do need them then this obviously wouldn't work at all.

changed mine up a bit by changing the battery color as well as adding a notification count in the form of dots that appear under the time, which you cant see right now because i had no notifications.

Some of these are really nice, but I have a stupid question:
What can a custom ROM do that stock android can't? From what I've seen it's usally just fancy visual stuff. I'm afraid to flash my phone because I've read some prolems about the nexus 6p having bootloop issues. It basically turns into a $500 brick. I've downloaded nice icons, wallpapers, and messed with some developer options, but that's as far as I'm willing to go with ricing.

custom roms can do quite a lot but most people dont need them. you can get a whole new UI, you can delete apps that are useless to you such as google play music or verizon fuckall sports. you can make minor and major tweaks to just about anything on your phone but it can be hard, complicated and can brick your phone if you arent careful. i say if you're worried about ruining your phone dont worry about rooting it.

I'm running off a 5x. When I updated my custom ROM on my last 5x I forgot to clear data and it completely bricked my phone beyond recovery. Be safe. If you're phone is still under the LG 1 year warranty. Worst comes to worst. Flash stock version erase all files and lock bootloader again. Then claim updating the stock OS broke it. Worked for me.

Hey ! I am a new friend here and I don't know much about good launchers/packs/widgets so this is my shameful first attempt with what I found.
Please do not tell me it's shit just to tell me it's shit, I know that. Just tell me what to keep, what to remove, and overall tips are appreciated, thanks!

There isn't some hidden 'taste knowledge' that you unlock after you make 20 good homescreens and go on a magical journey. Just rate other people for fucks sake. Tell them if it looks visually appealing, why you like it, and what you would maybe change. There's no right or wrong answer. It's not hard, and even one or two rates is better than nothing. You're being a leeching faggot if you don't even make an attempt at rating others. You're also underrating yourself and your opinion. It's also worth mentioning that rating others can help you improve upon your own homescreen.

So the first problem I see is that you have a dock. Docks take up an unnecessary amount of space, and their not particularly helpful. You also have the app drawer button, but there's no real need for it. I presume you're using Nova Launcher, so you can set the app drawer to open when pressing a hardware button or doing a gesture.

The next thing I'm not a fan of is the background and icons. Neither of them are bad on their own, but the light, colorful, flat icons look really weird on the background. Having contrast is fine as long as it works with the style of the whole thing, but that's exactly what this lacks. Also, I'd remove the labels on the icons simply because their unnecessary. It should be easy to figure out which app is which based purely on the design of the icon itself. You can do this in Nova settings or you could manually long click each icon and remove the label from their.

The other thing I'd say to do is to remove the nav bar. Like the dock, it takes up unnecessary space. I believe you can set the nav bar to disappear when on your homescreen in Nova. If you can't do that, then you could always go in settings and make the nav bar autohide unless you do the up gesture with your finger.

Lastly, I'm not a fan of your clock. It's not really the clock itself so much as it is the font. I'd personally make the font a lot more thinner.

Since it's so cluttered, it's kinda hard to fit one. First, reduce grid size to your liking, making icons closer to each other. You can use a high vertical grid size, put them down or under the clock, and fit a widget like Poweramp one. I heard that Phonograph one is good too, even though I never tested it, because I use KLWP.
You can use KWGT as such, and do it yourself, since it's a music widget, it's pretty straightforward and doesn't require a lot of work. I prefer KLWP myself but I can see where KWGT comes in handy. And you don't need pro version to do it.

That icon pack is horrible, that font really isn't doing it for me, I'd recommend against using solid colors for the music player and weather that slides in, it distracts from the rest of the rice and I'm not a fan of using those two wallpapers at once - colors do not match up at all.

There are a lot of options, but they're far from perfect.
1. If you are rooted, has a Marshallow rom, and not afraid of having your phone bricked, you can use Xposed mod called Lockscreen Widgets. However, it won't work on all devices or an all roms, is quite tricky to use and hasnt seen any development since last year.
2. Speaking of roms, few roms actually propose lockscreen customisations. Mine for example can hide things lile shortcuts and change font. At least, it's something.
3. To an extant, Substratum Engine can customise it, with mods like Clean Lock. But again, it will not do miracles.
4. A third party one. Widgetlocker seems to be good, though again no dev (and I'm too dumb to make it work). Zui, Snaplock and Screen Gesture offers some customisation.

There's no such thing as a "general mentality" when it comes to something as big and diverse as reddit. There are around 230 million users on reddit. Hey there guys. I've been lurking these thread for the past few days, and have been building up my own theme. I'm pretty new to this stuff, so I'm still trying to figure everything out. I'm having a problem tho. I have a hidden 4chan icon (nichijou) that slides up when I tap a transparent box that clips the next module. My issue is that when the global is not on, nichijou sits behind my weather app (61F). So when I tap slightly off of the 61F, sometimes it opens the 4chan app instead of the weather app. Is there any way to "deactivate" the nichijou icon when I'm not using it?

It's not bad if pink and elegance are your thing. I don't like the contrast between the white NAV buttons on the bottom and the dark lines and icons. I'm not sure if you can hide the NAV buttons without rooting though.. maybe there's a way with Nova launcher.
