Could you maybe tell me how you did that. I still haven't got the exp. to copy patterns but I would use the clone stamp which in my previous attempts didn't came out nice.

I figured using the clone stamp tool wouldn't look very nice so I opted for recreating the pattern manually from scratch. I just used the line tool, set it with a weight of 5 pixels, angled the line at the same angle as the original lines, and copied the same line over and over and over, shifting it to the side every time. Tedious but it gets the job done with pretty good results.

THEN I put a solid color of the beige background behind the lines. THEN I selected the beige background from the original layer with the girl and deleted it so it gave the illusion that the lines were behind her. THEN I added a stroke on her of a few pixels of the beige so the lines never actually touched her which I thought would look ugly. AAAAND done.

Hmm well the last I requested was pic related (one of my fave bg's) and that's like a month ago. ( I also requested the Mary detext one but I did it myself later on).

I can look for some bg's I wanted to edit but are too hard for me if you want.

And thanks for the tips I was thinking about setting up a custom pattern and work with that. But I guess simple things can make it a lot nicer too.

The only thing I can think to do is some extreme cropping. If you're happy with that then you're better off applying the wallpaper as it is and just using the wallpaper manager to select the area of the image that you want cropped. There's too much detail to hope for a decent redrawing in order to fill in blank space.

Other options are classic meme walls like the box-on-top-of-blurred-background shtick, idk if that's what you want.

Have a look at this to see if there is anything you would like to get changed. I will add a background to this tomorrow if nobody hasn't done so by then, and you are happy with how it looks.

I swapped the colour pallette to the one you requested, I hope the colour is what you were expecting. Then I finished up Altarias left wing, redrew outer lines since they were blue in the case of Altaria, rendered the whole thing and recreated those sparkles. The clouds that are part of Mega Altaria have the tint of the original background I hope this won't be too apparent when added to a different background.

On a side note: We see all requests. There is no reason for bumping in the same thread. In my case for example, I will always go through the whole thread to find something I feel like working on. Additionally, I assume that all requesters "really want" their request do be fullfilled. If nobody picks up your request then that just means that it's maybe too hard, takes too much time or they just don't like the image. (I for example generally don't pick up any of the NSFW stuff.) Imagine everyone bumping their requests. Re-requesting in the next thread is no problem though.

Anyway, this was just a general reminder for everyone.

I have no idea how to describe this very well, but I'll try:
I would like this picture expanded, basically. I would like to have the majority of the girl and the wings in the lower right corner and have the rest of the room open for a clock/icons, etc. and not have it scroll the picture across multiple home screens.

Not OR here, if you are using Photoshop try to refine the edge. With your background selection go to Refine Edge... and add .5 pixels of feather then shift the selection inward by a few % (somewherearound -25% often works well) and maybe play around with the Contrast setting until you can't see the white edge anymore. Note, you might have to invert your selection before hitting Refine Edge... to be able to see the character. Then set the View mode to On Black for a contrasting colour to the white. This way you can smoothen the edge and remove most of the white.

Thanks for putting in the effort to make this, though we've had plenty of render tutorials in the past.

It's worth mentioning that the magic wand method is quick and easy but not especially effective if you're fussy about the quality of your renders. For most people who'll be applying layer effects to the render (things like drop shadows etc.) it won't matter that there's a white glow around the image. If you want a good render, however, you'll have to use the pen tool.

Based on past experience I'm expecting some angry "muh layer masks muh refined edges" responses but I'm not sure the diehard magic wand ambassadors still post here.

That is a good render right there. If you have a simple background your render won't be much better than this.
And I've made a few dozen vector mask render so far. I prefer it over the Magic Wand tool too because I have much more control but for the image I used there it's a waste of time because the result will be almost the same. I just thought it's interesting for beginners and simple backgrounds in general.

Addition of inner glow solves most of the problems imo. It could be cleaner with pen tool, but the line art is messy. If you went to that much effort, you would be better off redrawing some of the problem areas, like some of the hair tips. Not worth the trouble when you can use some tricks to just touch up the edge.

Applied the same concept here, magic wand > refine edge > mask > manual cleanup > inner glow.

For me, it's not a question of pen tool vs magic wand, it's how can I get the result I'm satisfied with in a timely fashion. Since we're talking renders, I think people sometimes get stuck on the idea that renders should be an exact cut out and that's it. But I treat them like any other edit and if I see an opportunity to make the edges even better than how it was in the original, I will take it. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

Oh yeah no I'm on my desktop now and that's definitely not a good render, I'm sorry. I wasn't even able to see the glow on my laptop. Anyway, adding the inner glow >>1902736 is probably the best way of dealing with it if there is a glow. If I get some time tomorrow, I'll add that to the tutorial. The Magic Wand Tool method however doesn't always leave that glow. That's what I don't agree with and to me it seemed like that that's what you were saying. I agree here, I never wanted the tutorial to make the magic wand look like a better or worse option in the first place. More like a beginners guide to one easy and effective option (if done properly duh...) since it takes me about 15mins to do a render that way if the background is flat colour. I like this wallpaper but the ripple effect in the background looks terrible on my screen
Can someone fill the background with the solid color in the middle without getting rid of the blur at the bottom?
