You've done nothing wrong mate. Your not on the vector thread so I already knew. I'm just not experienced enough to cut her out. It's made to look like a painting and those are hard to cut out, especially when the background blends so well into the dress/hair.

How were you able to get the outline so clean? I still have parts of the boot and knee padding if I use magic wand?

I used the magic wand with a tolerance of 32 to delete the white background. It didn't grab everything, though, so I then went around with the eraser and manually cleaned up the edges. Then I noticed it still had some white outlines so I added a black inner glow with:
-Opacity: 75%
-Choke: 0
-Size: 1

Inner glows and inner strokes (if your outline is clean and done with something anti-aliased like the pen tool) work really well to hide messy edges and outlines.

Here is a last version. I adjusted levels with the original scan in mind instead of the backgrounds you requested.
Dress shadows almost black while keeping the brighter tones of her skin and hair. This version should be the closest to how the artist drew the original when it comes to colour tones, possibly a bit too saturated.
Anyway, if anyone wishes to do edits using my render they should probably start with this one and adjust colours from there since it's the most neutral version not made for a specific background.

Don't really follow.
Clouds are _supposed_ to have vaguely defined edges.
I added extra whiteness and blur to achieve that look, not to cover the girl.
I've tried to paint some of that out and restore a blank sky.

Just in case that Anon doesn't come back, I'll tell you how. I was able to get almost the safe effect (and I'm assuming this is how Anon did it) by going to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation (shortcut for this is ctrl+U) and moving the hue slider until you're satisfied.
