No kidding, I imported a copy of Bare Knuckle III because of this.

I imported BKIII because SOR3 was like one of those shitty PoopMarioNazi fanhacks.

Nintendo is way more guilty of censorship than Sega. Final Fight & Mortal Kombat 1 is proof of that.

Also that image is too small. Can't see shit. But if I wanted to play as Blaze uncensored, I'd use the nude mod for the Sega Genesis emulator.

(Final Fight was Capcom)

Nevermind I just remembered Panel de Pon was released as Yoshi Tetris Attack in the west.
Why does the west hate sexy girls so much?

Vaporwave was some silly 2010 tumblr fad like seapunk.
It's not a real movement.
>>
>>4129397
>is more chiptune than anything
Chiptune isn't actually a genre. It's a style. It's like saying Acoustic is a genre. Chiptunes are made across many diverse genres. Largely any heavy SEGA or YM2612 based vaporwave would also likely have chiptune components.

>>4129428
>Vaporwave is a made up meme genre anyway
All genres are by definition made up meme genres. That's how things fucking work. You make up something new and it catches on.
>>
>>4129454
>Exactly, it didn't exist until it was created in 2011
Literally every genre in existence didn't come out until the year it came out, meaning it was new. Therefore by your qualifications all genres are meme gender.
I mean they are, but because of that fact that's not a useful distinction.
>>
>>4129193
>he's still trying to defend his fanboyism

Both Sega and Nintendo of America were shit, deal with it obnoxious fanboy.
Also your tax analogy is farfetched and silly.
>>
>>4129382
The arms look kind of awkward in both sprites. At least the uncensored one lets you see Blaze's panties and nice hair.
>>
>>4129457
Surf music lasted from 1961 to 1964. Vaporwave thus far has technically lasted longer than that and growing.

That doesn't make this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuHs_mhg9Nk
Any less awesome 30 years after the genre was put to bed when it was made or even 50 years from when the genre basically died by the meme style of it's time.
>>
>>4129397
Noting if you disagree with
>>4129494
on the chiptune point. Then you're going to have to defend and explain how I literally just stole an entire genre of music like this.
https://youtu.be/roHje14-K44
Since now all Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaichovsky is classified as chiptune as per the existence of this song and others like it.
>>
>>4129507
Do vaporwave artists even do gigs?
I saw a surf rock band a few years ago opening for Faith no More, so there's still surf music around, even if it's not the "heyday".
>>
>>4129527
No, I'd rather just admit that I was wrong on the chiptune point.
Cool song though, thanks for the link.
>>
>>4129531
Are they gonna play slowed down samples live? LMAO
>>
>>4129543
Well, playing samples live isn't something new anyway. But I haven't heard of vaporwave guys doing gigs, I'm sure some do. I bet the audience would be cringe as fuck.
>>
>>4129543
You can actually do that. That's not even difficult. Shit you can output buffered slow processed guitars live if that's your thing. Shit you can do it while wagging your fucking hands around.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOfxyTGA7K4

But it's more likely you'd stick to pressing buttons and reproduce the actual sample segments live despite it likely looking like this

>real instruments
Some DJ's can play real instruments. Not traditional but still instruments. Especially if they're more than just DJ's such as turntablist. Straight up party DJ's are weak. But turntabling is a valid skill and a valid instrument.
>>
>>4129628
Well, some DJ's also play transitional instruments, many people do. Not really a big thing there.
Playing a traditional instrument doesn't make you good either. I've seen some awful guitarists just doing the same shit strumming chords over and over again and pass it off solid playing instead of the same shitty four chords every song. Not to say that person couldn't learn to play better either, but it was weak shit.
Similarly some people just grab a record and hit play Guetta style.
>>
>>4129365
Nothing screams "underage" like people that think pixel panties are critically important to their game experience.

Bayonetta 2 wasn't translated by NoA's goons, those being Treehouse and 8-4. Also, it was pretty much built up as a game for the western market, so there wasn't the "oh, the only weirdos who play this game are creepy otaku" aspect, and was released right before the wave of toning down sexualization in the media.

It's nothing new, the difference is the target audience. Keep in mind that XCX is rated T and Bayo is rated M. You're a complete idiot for thinking that they have some kind of vendetta against bikinis
>>
>>4129913
I couldn't tell you exactly when it started, but you look me dead in the eye and tell me that they'd do the exact same promo they did for Bayo 2 in 2012 today.

>You're a complete idiot for thinking that they have some kind of vendetta against bikinis
If they didn't, why did they change them? Bikinis are well within a T rating.
>>
>>4129913
He might have a point in the sense that politics and western people's society has actually changed (and is still changing) a lot during the past couple years.
still people were accusing Bayonetta of being misogynistic back in 2012, so I still think it's a miracle Bayo 2 came out in the west without censorship in the year 2014. It still received criticism from western media though. But not enough to tone down the metascore, I think it's still in the 90%s.
>>
>>4129913
Then why did they remove the bikinis from Fatal Frame, a game rated M? Since doing so made no business sense whatsoever, people theorised Reggie did so just to finally kill off 3rd-parties on their consoles.

SOR2 had great sound and controls, but as far as best beat 'em up goes...Batman Returns(SNES version), Maximum Carnage, TMNT Turtles In Time Reshelled are right up there too. But yes, SOR2 definitely had a bigger impact, especially since the SOR2's fighting mechanics is being used for fan-made beat 'em ups. Ever heard of Beats Of Rage? You'll fine a lot of fan-made games using the Beats Of Rage engine.

Controversial statement 1: During the build-up and height of SEGA vs Nintendo in America, console video games were viewed as children's toys; hence why video games are traditionally always near toy aisles in big box retailers. As such, if the video game industry believed that the MAJORITY of their audience is under 18, they would change the games to be a inoffensive to parents a possible. Remember; this was during a time when THE SIMPSONS was a point of ire for family watchdog groups.

Controversial statement 2: Video Games are STILL very much viewed as playthings for children, so they will always be marketed and tweaked as such for mass consumption, because there are a lot more 12 year olds with money having parents than there are 30 year keyboard warriors.

Controversial Statement 3: What you're mad at is you culture's values; not localization teams. You should be trying to petition the end of obscenity laws; not get mad at Nintendo or NIS.
>>
>>4133329
You have good taste. Tyris > Blaze
>>
>>4136146
>Controversial statement 2: Video Games are STILL very much viewed as playthings for children,
This argument only applies for games with E ratings. Children full stop shouldn't be playing a game rated T or above, and if they are it's because their parents bought the game for them and deemed it worthy of entertainment for their child. There is no reason to censor a game created for teenagers or adults. (I still wouldn't agree with censoring games with E ratings, but at least I could understand it.)

Is it just me, or does this whole "censorship" thing only come up when people are mad that they can't jerk-off to a pixelated pussy while playing a video game?
>>
>>4137258
It also comes up with violence stuff and religion, among other things.
>>
>>4137261
Then let me rephrase: why does the whole "censorship" thing only come up when people are mad that they can't jerk-off to pixelated pussy while playing a video game when they don't seem anywhere NEAR as upset at religious imagery and over the top violence being "censored"?

I've never seen threats hurled at old school devs for shit like that like I do for not being about to see a panty shot or implied nipples.
>>
>>4137270
Lurk more, I guess.
The whole MK censorship on SNES was a big deal and one of the most famous examples of vidya censorship.
Blaze's panty being censored in the US version of SOR2 wasn't even in people's knowledge until the internet.
>>
>>4137276
I lurk plenty; I'm talking about people in the here and now being so upset. Even the MK "censorship" was more of a "SEGA wins this round" sort of thing, as the Genesis version still had the blood in it; locked behind an easily obtainable code.

When these threads pop up, its almost never about how people are angry about violence/religion being "censored". It's not quite as bad as "censorship" threads on the other /v/ boards, where people nearly demand death threats be sent to localization teams over not directly translating Japanese memes and underage breasts.

Now wanna hear what's some actual bullshit censoring? They totally skipped the first area of world 2 in the Game Gear port of Ristar. That was one of the few exclusive areas to the Game Gear too not presented in the Genesis verison! It's still there in the rom it just gets skipped if it detects it's running on a non Japanese Bios.
Why the fuck would they do that?
>>
I thought them changing Axl's shirt colors to yellow in SoR3 was a worse pointless change.
>>
>>4137287
People prefer games in their original form, regardless of what's the cause of the censorship.
Censorship isn't cool.
>>
>>4137317
Nintendo thinks it's cool to censor. I think that's why there would never be a Splatterhouse port on there. Would have loved to see a Splatterhouse game on the SNES.
>>
>>4137334
Nintendo of America. And as you can see ITT, Sega of America also censored stuff, they just got away with it more often. Probably the MK scandal helped Sega build a better reputation in that regard, but both NoA and SoA censored.
>>
>>4137334
Well there was WANPAKKU GRAFFITI
>>
>>4137338
Can you stop being a fanboy retard already? Nintendo removed content much more often than Sega did. People want the original game and get upset when people fuck with that.
>>
>>4137352
>calls me a fanboy
You are the fanboy for trying to defend SoA.
I'm shitting on both SoA and NoA, I don't have any bias.
Funny how you're trying to twist up reality by claiming others are fanboys just because your fanboy ass gets triggered by the truth.
>People want the original game and get upset when people fuck with that.
That, we can agree on.
>>
>>4137352
In my experience, Sega fucked with the difficulty more often than any other company, something to do with their "hardcore gamer" marketing campaign.
>>
Are people using the word "censorship" so they can pretend that they're being done an injustice at this point?

I'd think you'd have more of a case for calling it "censorship" if Nintendo as a company objected to this content on moral grounds instead of them changing it to sell in a puritanical country. It's not Nintendo's fault Americans believe that seeing a tit will cause their children some irrevocable crime.

And, besides, you can just get the original Japanese version. Even translating it is TECHNICALLY "censorship" in the way people in this thread seem to think it means, because there's no such thing as a 100% flawless 1-to-1 translation of anything. Even being okay with the localized title and box-art ought to be considered as egregious as the other "censorship"; it's certainly not what the original developers intended, right? Even if they were privy to it and okay'd it, its still "censorship" because its not what they truly wanted the finished product to be.
>>
>>4137441
moral of the story is to learn japanese
old games are cheaper there too
>>
>>4137441
Translation is different from alteration. You know that there's a word of difference between a translated logo and an edited sprite.

>>4137451

>>
>>4137451

>>
>>4137462
Sorry you literally believe that you shouldn't put work into your hobby.

That's like saying that Hollywood should make shot for shot remakes of famous foreign movies because you don't want to learn the language and subtitles are a hassle.
>>
>>4137762
Isn't that literally what they do?
>>
>>4137338
Yeah, I know. Just that Nintendo is way more guilty of it, they're pretty anal about what does & doesn't appear on their console. Robocop Vs Terminator was better on the Genesis than the SNES. The Genesis version of Maximum Carnage got a MA-13 rating, not sure why there's no rating on the SNES version. I think there might have been something a bit more extreme on the Genesis version, that didn't meet Nintendo's standards. Who knows? I know that both games are nearly identical, so it's hard to tell.

>>4137341
True.
>>
>>4137820
* I forgot to add that Robocop Vs Terminator had blood in the Genesis version, while the SNES did not.
>>
>>4128420
That's not the only change they did. They also fucked with the colors and even completely changed some of the enemies.
>>
>>4137803
I think he's meaning that it would be silly to think that Hollywood is beholden to remake all foreign movies of note just so Americans can watch them instead of people just going and seeking out the originals. Which, if you suggested that to movie buffs, they'd laugh you out of the room.

I think a more apt description is being a fan of a particular genre of music and insisting that the artist do all their albums in English so you can listen to it.

JJ & Jeff was somewhat censored in the stupidest way. The characters used to literally bend over and fart on each other in the JP, they use fart spray in the US. Outside that, Turbographx 16 didn't really make it to the great video game rating crisis.

Splatterhouse made it to shores with the only thing changed was Rick's mask to distinguish it from Jason Vorhees for copyright reasons.

I don't get why people think Blaze's posture is better on the censored version.
On the original, her legs are positioned in a way that you can tell she's kicking.
On the censored version, she looks like she's lying, taking a sunbath in mid-air.
I notice many of you talk about the arms (they look kind of awkward in both versions), but pay attention to the legs (the LEGS, look at the legs, not the crotch you pervs)
>>
I wonder if her hitbox also changed. The japanese version looks like the kick is more horizontal, but the US version has this weird down-angle position.

Arcade western versions aren't censored for man on women violence and they didn't censor Poisons and Roxys costumes like Sega versions did.
