The closest thing I even have to retro merch is a little figurine of Zelda 1 version of Link, and the 8-bit Mario Amiibo.

And I guess a Sonic plush that I thought was an ordinary classic Sonic plush, but as it turns out, it was a Sonic Underground plush that had it's guitar necklace removed before it was given to me.

I wish I still had some of the retro stuff I had as a kid. I had some Mario and Sonic Kid's Meal toys, a Super Mario Bros Lunch Box and Thermos, some T-shirts with a particularly vicious looking off-model Bowser popping out of a TV, some Mario coloring books, and comics.

Actually now that I think about it, I have an old Super Mario World graphic novel from before the N64 even launched, It's in really shitty condition because I was a dumb kid when I got it and I took it to school in my back pack alot.

I wish Nintendo would issue a reprint like they did for the Zelda comic, so I could get a new copy. It goes for unacceptable prices online as it is now.

It's not /retro/ as in actual aged old 70's-90's. but something you might be interested in if you have the money, 4 figure studios started doing LED statues of iconic vidya characters, and they've got tons of great Sega shit.

Its pretty pricey though, but damn it looks awesome.

And then when I got it the capes were shredded because apparently it was taped down inside the box and removing the tape often shreds the delicate cloth

Kotobukiya released the Guardian Force toys pretty much everywhere on the planet where the game was released, BUT just to be assholes or for whatever other reason they decided to include a piece of the Ragnarok only with the Japanese release of those GFs, so no one else got it.

She came exclusively in a boxed set of figures that also included Squall, Zell, and Selphie, and that boxed set was short-packed as hell to where most of the boxed sets shipped to retailers instead had Rinoa's dog Angelo and a moomba in place of Edea.

I bought a Legend of Dragoon Dart figure when I was a kid, it looked pretty cool, but holy fuck the tip of the sword was sharp. It was only plastic but I still drew blood a few times.

Seriously as a toy collector this company is terrible. Outrageous price, mediocre sculpts, and terrible paint. If these were like $40-50 I would say whatever but these go for around $350-500.

Anyway anyone have any cool guidebook? I love collecting them or finding archives of them online. Just looking at the art in them is fun.

They're semi-rare because they were shelf-warmers that didn't sell too well due to people wanting dragoon-mode figures and BBI who made them refused to make the dragoon ones for whatever reason.


Their values tend to hover around $30 each for a carded one even though some sellers think they can charge a lot more.

I had to destroy my figure I got from them. Not bothering again. Piss poor quality control. So bad to the point that they wanted me to wait another 3 months on top of the 13 months I had already waited to get the NiGHTS figure so they could have me and the rest of the people upset with their shit quality into a second batch run to fix their shit.

At least they refunded me. I'll give them that.

What separates FFX and FFIX is one year, yet one's considered retro and the other is not.

I think it's stupid. It's retro enough. Most of the people on /v/ were either shitting diapers or not born when FFX came out.


And I had some of those FF8 GFs. Odin, and Shiva are fragile as fuck. I went through three Odins before I finally got one with the head not broken off, and then it broke when it fell off of my shelf. Its pegs holding the head on are so thin and made of the cheapest most fragile plastic known. And Shiva's arm broke at the elbow for the same reason.

The KOG Mother t-shirts aren't easy to replicate, and they are official merch.
The Smash shirt was designed by Itoi.

The "Emergency" on the red shirt is made of a special kind of paint that changes its color with sun light.

I mean, I'm sure I could somehow reproduce the thing if I researched and put enough effort, but yeah, not the same.
