Wasn't there already one?
With a new thread this means the contest has ended. And with the most votes, Forlorn Fortress takes top spot.
A special thank you to everyone who contributed to the contest and if you have any ideas for future ones, please share your thoughts.

I haven't played the game for more than a few seconds in a full year now. Haven't missed lurking these threads even once, on the other hand.

I wish handymen would have better pathfinding and not always get stuck underground like the one here.
>>3290828
Some kind of coaster contest so we can make it faster. Or a summer contest to make a mini park, max 25x25 or so.
>>3291371
That's why you use patrol areas.
>>3291619
Problem is that the tiled patch leading underground is at the edge of a 4x4 square.
>>3291634
I wonder why chris did that anyway. Surely a factor of 16 on memory thats probably masked to one bit per tile per employee isnt significant.
>>3292606
Seems like a design choice.
-Avoids the tedium of adding patrol squares one by one
-Locking it to a grid means you don't have to handle for overlaps
>>3292626
Aside from expanding paths, one by one could be better, at least as an option.
>>3291537
I would love a mini-park contest. That's the kind of thing a procrastinating-ass jive turkey such as myself can actually contemplate accomplishing.
>>3292687
Seconding this, the 15x15 coaster contest was my favorite of the past competitions.
Am I the only one who starts coasters with their main element and then doesn't know how he should build the rest? I really liked my initial idea here though.Final coaster was pretty terrible, E:6 I:9 N:6.2
>>3293108

That coaster type always gets bad stats. Rebuild the layout with the Corkscrew or Twister coaster, and it should be better.

Not available in this scenario. Stand-Up is the only one with half loops and corkscrews.
Would any fellow /vr/cters be interested in a trip to Cedar Point or Kings Island sometime this summer?
>>3293108
I start coasters with a general idea of what I want to do with them, but then either they take up half the park because I'm terrible at keeping things compact or they end up with 10 intensity and no one is ever interested in them.

They probably used the same stock sound sample, it wouldn't be the first time. Mission Impossible 2 uses the same crowd sound as RCT

I'm pretty sure I've heard RCT sounds in other media as well
Anyone here try PlanetCoaster?
I know it has a shockingly small amount of content compared to RCT but the building and ride customization options kinda have me interested in it as a possible replacement for it one day.

you have to let him go to the entrance

>>3294558

>>3294562
>>3294572
I thought I just figured it out.
There was a guest stuck in the entrance while it was broken down. Setting the ride to 'closed' wouldn't push him out of the queue, he would stay standing in the entrance.
So I loaded an earlier save, closed the ride, and tried to get a mechanic to inspect it. And they still can't do it. They just walk from the entrance to the exit and back over and over.
>>3294614
There needs to be an exit at station 1 for mechanics to inspect/fix it. At least that is the case in my experience.
>>3294618
Loaded an older save when it wasn't broken so I could add an exit.
Mechanic attempting to inspect it headbutts that exit and turns around, too.

I hate you for doing stuff that's not possible in RCT. Evergreen Gardens is awful in the beginning with all the shit in your way, long ways and visitors not having much cash.
A month ago, after years of abstinence, I started playing the game again with that level, noticed that I had forgotten how to build good coasters and then ruined shit by getting a Worst Value Award (but also the Safest Park award!)
I'm replaying RCT and I never had the expansions as a kid.
I haven't unlocked it yet, but how do you guys stack the gentle rides for Micro Park? Do you just have to raise a square of ground, build your ride, then lower the ground, or is there an easier way?

Haven't played a RCT game in a while, thinking about buying one on GOG.com now that they're on sale. Should I get the first one or the second one?
>>3298421
There's literally no reason aside from nostalgia to get #1 over #2. You can import fan-made recreations of RCT1's scenarios into the sequel. Aside from that, everything is a straight improvement.
>>3298427
Also you can get OpenRCT2
>>3298442
Alright, bought RCT2 and installed that (which was a good decision since the vanilla game crashed when I tried to load a save).
I like how this implicitly starts the game in the window, but is there any way to enable edge scrolling on the window itself? Cause right now, the mouse clipping outside of the window when it's active doesn't seem to work, so I gotta go to the edge of the computer screen itself to edge scroll.
>>3297540
>Grand Tourhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR46WbmYFyQ
>>3298421
They're both good games but you can sort of view the first game as an "alpha" compared to the second game which is a lot more refined. RCT1 has a lot of unusual quirks to it that make it kinda annoying when you're coming from the second game.
>>3298551
Such as no holding shift to lower or raise where something is built.
>>3298556
Yeah that's one. Another really annoying thing is during construction trees do not clear themselves out of your way. You have to right click on each tree in your way(no scenery removal tool either) to remove them one by one IIRC
One thing I liked about RCT1 was how extensive the ride descriptions were. I think the descriptions kept but they were moved to individual ride windows under that little tab where you can choose the vehicle type.
>>3298629
There are some differences though and the "other info" is no longer there.
Can someone explain to me the idea of indoor rides? When a guests says: "I'm not riding ride "x" while it's raining."
If I place a lot of roof tiles over the ride what effect will that have? What about walls and siding? Does making a roller coaster go underground considered indoor ride? How much of the ride has to be indoors 1/2 or 3/4 or 100%?
What if only the station platform is indoors? What if the station platform is the only portion of the ride outdoor. Will guests ride it while it's raining?
>>3293060
>Okay, anyone got links for 25x25 parks?
There is a mod to let you add scenery objects and rides to a saved file.
>>3298779
I don't think roof/wall pieces actually protect the guests from rain, they're just scenery. Underground stuff is indoors, and I think if at least 1/2 of the track is underground, guests will go on in the rain.
>>3298516
Just right click scroll like a competent computer user.
>>3298791
If you put the station underground I think it negates any scenery advantage and instead just gives you a flat bonus that's better than no scenery but not better than a fully decked out ride.
>>3298796
I'd love to do that, but it goes in the opposite way as normally.
I.e. when you drag and move right, it actually moves right, instead of going left (the natural way).
It fucks me up in the head.
Finally came up with something after a bit of a slump.
>>3297960
I swear Evergreen Gardens is the easiest next to Forest Frontiers, you just need to delete paths to make small sections of the park so the Guests/Staff won't go full maze runner.
>>3299446
The objective isn't hard especially since you're given four years, but the start is just very annoying. Not many flats, no info kiosk in the beginning, everything being so spread out… And the scenario actually goes too long for my taste.
Diamond Heights is without a doubt easier, as you already have good coasters and only need to raise the park value by building some more stuff.
>>3299440
Do they ever get caught up in it?

I had it running through my head for the whole build, as soon as I thought up the name.
Okay, I just installed OpenRCT2 (plus openrct2-content.zip). I played mostly core RCT and only a few hours of RCT2 before, so I'm much more familiar with RCT's interface. I already found how to get back traffic lights instead of those dumb flags, but there's other stuff that annoys me.
Is there a way to permanently get back the message bar at the bottom or at least to make object popups appear faster? Also, I'd prefer stuff like the land tool to show all options as in RCT rather than having to hold. And it's a bummer tiled footpaths and independently selectable supports are no longer available. Finally, is there a way to get back the dropdown for number of cars and trains rather than just those teensy arrows? Also, fuck those staffers demanding higher wages than in RCT.
I guess most of that stuff would be feature requests, but maybe some of it can already be tweaked.
>>3300034
>Finally, is there a way to get back the dropdown for number of cars and trains rather than just those teensy arrows?
I think the OpenRCT2 devs just changed that, they used to be drop down menus in OpenRCT2 0.0.4. They'll probably revert it back if it proves to be too annoying.
>Is there a way to permanently get back the message bar at the bottom or at least to make object popups appear faster? Also, I'd prefer stuff like the land tool to show all options as in RCT rather than having to hold. And it's a bummer tiled footpaths and independently selectable supports are no longer available.
These are all things that were a part of RCT2. The OpenRCT2 devs are open to suggestions if you have them. Except for the things listed under the "limitations" or limits
https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/wiki/Found-bugs-and-limitations-in-RCT2
https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/wiki/Increasing-of-game-limits
Limits cannot be changed until OpenRCT2 is completely independent from RCT2
>>3300094
Also here's a list of RCT1 features that the devs are already considering porting over to OpenRCT2
https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/wiki/RCT1-Features-not-in-RCT2
One thing I forgot to mention is prices on top of scenery items in the build list.
Though having all of RCT, RCT2 and OpenRCT2 side-by-side makes me realize how inconsistent the GUI in RCT was. E.g. rides had their prices in the description.
>>3299446
>deleting path
That's cowards talk.
>>3300139
>not wanting free money
How do I prevent painting myself into a corner in a park? What I mean is I have a tendency to make park expansion really hard by blocking possible pathways with rides.
>>3301920
Underground paths?
>>3301920
build ahead. place a part of a path you want to build in the future, but leave one space out so people won't walk over too it.
>>3302164
Hell no. Handymen have more issues with those than they solve. And it leads to things like >>3291371
>>3302165
Good idea for the future. I just go around it by building paths over the rides, and extending existing paths into them. Also helped relieve the issue I had been having with it being "too crowded" some.
Do suspended coasters always suck?
>>3302776
If you make one that makes a half-loop at the first possible opportunity, and use a station launch so the car reaches the end of the half-loop and returns, you have something with great stats that's over in like five seconds.
>>3302789
The scenario has the single rail ones. I'm play-testing my scenario before posting the revision to here.
>>3297947
>the "food court" section with the maze

Just gave up for the third time to make a nice castle-themed ghost train. Building shit out of walls and base blocks is such a fucking hassle.

>>3304556

>>3304580
Here's the looper.
>>3304584
And here's the woodie. I never got around to decorating this end of the park.
>>3304556
Well, the main issue is whether to place wall pieces on the "inner" or "outer" side of a block. E.g. that trap door was supposed to lead out of the station, but I could only place it in the square of the white curve.
But this creates a shitty gap in the wall if I don't make it the same everywhere.
The other problem is with base blocks just erasing walls. And I guess the station roof showing through one of the blocks is a graphics issue.
Forgot image.
>>3300203
Context?
>>3304781
RCT2 being more lenient with giving out good excitement ratings than RCT. Also the one in RCT has scenery objects while the other hasn't.
>>3304781
He's comparing RCT1 to RCT2 apparently. RCT2 changed some things in subtle ways, physics included I think. It looks like the average and top speed are slightly different which means some elements are more intense in RCT1 than in RCT2. RCT1 might also just be grading the intensity a lot more harshly and intensity negatively affects excitement and nausea.
>>3304626
It can help to just build the building larger than it needs to be. If you've got the aesthetic prowess, you an use this extra space to make things look snazzy. Don't be afraid to bulk up; a few tiles here and there won't make a huge difference in your park as a whole
>>3304589

>>3305196
Well then. I'm not a fan of boosters on two hills and breaks between them just to clear each element in acceptable speed.
It looks like you started building your coaster without a plan and then just added boosters when you noticed that it did not work or look good speedwise.
How long does my station have to be for max cars on a ghost train? Does station length even matter? One of the prebuilt ones has 20 with a shorter station than mine.
>>3307030
It seems that the amount of trains comes from the ride length, not the station length.
Having 2 stations, each being just 1 in length may help in shortening queue times, as you can load and unload simultaneously.
At least it's that way in coasters. Don't know if it's valid in all rides...
>>3307083
I just changed an intermediate section and it jumped from 7 to 25 cars max. wtf
>>3307089

Almost done with that shit. Only need to place the remaining walls and some windows, and maybe make some minor tweaks.
Weird thing is that if I lower the curve between entrance and exit path, my max number of cars is 17. Now it's 31. Though the track can only accomodate like 20 with no waiting times.

>>3307578
Silver Peaks from the last contest. It's slow going but worth it.
>>3307591
The key I've found is to keep up with the terrain. Every segment of the ride you build, stop and raise the terrain around it to make it rugged and form-fitting. You can't expect to get a good lay from the mountain to start with, so you have to make a lot of it yourself.
>>3307642

Don't know if you guys ever play Moto Racer for PSX. There are two tracks I really like. One is Great Wall and the other is Dirt Arena. This is more of a mock-up so it doesn't have all the scenery completed.

Hi, haven't played RCT in a while, kinda want to restart. Is there any point in using OpenRCT or should I stick to RCT2 for the moment?
>>3309332
It reintroduces a lot of features from RCT1 that were removed in RCT2 and it also adds things on top of that.
keep/change/demolish?
How bad would a scenario be if you started out with about 2.5k guests in the park, a bunch of paths, no rides, but a shit ton of money (like more than $400k)? With the stalls and staff still in place too.
>>3309369
>Elevated water splash
>Crazy Castle
demolish
>>3309381
the park rating would drop pretty fast, it really depends if on what type of scenario it would be
>>3309381
That would be kinda pointless since the guests would all leave after a short time. It doesn't even make sense logically why would there be so many guests in an empty lot?
>>3309395
The water splash was kinda stupid, but I couldn't think of anything interesting to do with the last part. Plus it's a cheap way to raise excitement.
Tried some more banked curves first but decided to go with a simple hill. Made some tweaks to the rest. Excitement is now slightly better than before.
how do I make loops without killing people
>>3309578
As slowly as possible.
You need about 50~60km/h.
>>3309578
Fix your lateral Gs
>lower the speeds of the coaster
>make your turns wider
>bank your turns
>>3309607
Oh and vertical Gs too. Vertical Gs are caused by the train going too fast down a hill. They push the guests into their seats.
>>3309578
One thing I would try to improve is all of the curved track. On roller coasters there's often straightaway sections where the guests are given a small break from all of the action and allowed to view their surroundings. Curves are good in moderation but too many increases your intensity and nausea ratings. If you put hills in make sure the train has enough momentum to propel itself above the hill at a reasonable speed, you don't want your train to just barely make it over a hill. The regular incline track is useful for making hills, the steep incline kills a lot of speed fast and shouldn't be used directly after a drop it's a waste of power.
>>3309450
I beat a scenario I made, that is loosely based on Jurassic Park, so the description says some dinosaurs escaped and wrecked the rides.
>>3309821
Heh that's kinda funny. Maybe you could make some rollercoasters or gentle rides that are missing pieces or something.

OpenRCT2 removes walls if I build a track beside them while RCT2 doesn't. Bug or some "feature" I can turn off?
Disabling clearance checks in the cheats menu changes nothing.
Is what I'm doing with the path here a good or a bad idea? I leave the parts of the path where entrances are facing each other open, just adding fences inbetween to get more benches and bins.
>>3311343
Eh.
Do you use double width path everywhere?
I'd not do that, desu. I'd rather keep it double width and put the benches elsewhere. Or just have a dedicated restaurant/food court.
>>3311379
The scenario starts with a double width path for the "main street", branches are one square wide.
I don't really like the idea of a food court much. It's not like guests have particularly refined tastes and profit much from having 5+ different food stalls in one location. Most of my stalls are just placed in free squares next to gentle rides, and souvenir stalls next to coasters and thrilling ones.
>>3311401
Most parks I went to had a restaurant or several, desu. I really don't get the 1x1 stuff. It's more of a traveling funfair thing than fixed park here.

I hope RCT2 will let us merge water ride tracks with water completely some day.
>>3312063
A good option for implementing in OpenRCT2 would be to use the boat track(rowboats, canoes, etc). Only problem is merging the two different types of track together.
>>3312063
8cars was wonky about it but could potentially make track invisible, allowing that.
>>3312083
OpenRCT2 can do it too with the tile inspector.
>>3312139
With the invisible you would throw other non-functional parts at it, like steeplechase track.
I agree an in-water track type would be nice, but I imagine it'll take more decompilation and would be implemented like the water coaster.
>>3312145
Yeah, that'd be for later, of course.
I wonder if they tried it at all in RCT1/2 and gave up.

>>3312324

>>3312346
I still havent gotten over to try The Joker. Maybe tomorrow. I keep returning to an amusing comment I saw on an announcement, "The largest non-inverting coaster in the park is now a Zierer."
Is this symptomatic of people being bored by woodies now or is six flags just dumb?
>>3312602
I've never seen people thinking of woodies as boring, considering both Terminator at Magic Mountain and Roar have always had stupid long lines imho
Does anybody know a good workbench for creating a fun water park? Found one I thought I liked called H2H7 it's full of 2013 Louis! object. But I just noticed it includes no custom water scenery.
Ignore above comment. Realized the work bench does have water objects they simply we're selected.
What's the most intense/agressive ride you've ever been on? For me, Green Lantern at Magic Mountain. The positive g-forces are extremely powerful, and at the brakes, the car flipped over 4 times in about 5 seconds. It was right on the edge of being unpleasant, and I had trouble walking down the exit stairs. Good times.

Incredibly comfy, and a lovely use of scenery. Nice sense of realism behind it, I really like it. Hammerhead is probably the best ride in the park, followed by vortex, python then shooting star.
If you are aiming for realism, your current layouts are within the reals of possibility in the sense that they could work irl, but you'd never see these sorts of layouts because companies tend to have a specific style. Biggest tip I can give you other than to keep making gud shit is to smooth out the bottoms of your hills, the inclines go from steep to flat very quickly, which is uncomfortable irl. Pic is related, but it's an unrealistic layout regardless (couldn't find a good example, my desktop with all my screenies is kill)
>>3313349
I usually don't do the "steep - gentle - flat" hills/valleys because I don't like the way it looks most of the time. Something I would love to see implemented in ORCT2 is the smooth transitions that the twister coaster has being made available for all track type, though I'm not sure if that's possible.
More than realism, I try to capture the style of the RCT1 scenarios and prebuilt coasters.
One of these worth it?
>>3313389
if you are going to do it, use a steep lift hill and put a hill or loop directly out of the station rather than a turn to save space.
If you want a jewcoaster, launched corkscrews with a single half loop for track are better because of how many riders per hour you get.
>>3313421
I don't really want a jewcoaster, I just wanted something like the Backtrack you see in the OpenRCT2 menu, just better. Apparently it has shit ass stats. >>3309136
Also trying to put hills/loops right out the station, but I kinda came to like the coil around the lift hill (and it looks way better with a steep hill, thanks), putting anything but a turn makes the stats worse.

The trains are massive and they lose their speed so quickly that you'd need a launch or another lift hill to get more speed which would never happen. Plus they're really expensive because of the massive track size
>>3315887
Is Valravn some incredible engineering feat then? Two 90 degree drops and a lot longer track than on most dive machines.

I did a pretty stupid one in RCT where I just did a steep lift hill with a 180° turn, a vertical drop followed by two loops and a photo section before going back to the station.
It was just a stupid test, but it already got pretty good stats and I just opened the shit as is.

In the past campaigns were designed to teach you. Now they're meant to waste your time. If I knew how I would use the scenery without having the expac installed. It makes a mess of the file system. The castles are small but that can be fixed.

Do the track pieces interlock or do they just butt against each other and bolt in place?
I'm more interested in the engineering and fabrication of the track - how they bend the tubular steel, the structure of woodie track and supports, etc.
>>3323239
We're in Sand Lake, Michigan for the Fourth. It's a comfy little town, we're taking over the local park so a ton of folks and their kids were watching us today. We had to move the coaster because a little ass tree was in the way and the local fair board has said "no landscape changes."
To answer your question, the track is lifted into place by two or three men and each successive piece goes onto the "tits", the slightly smaller part of the running rail that each piece ends with. High-test pins and wedges with r-keys attach the track to the supports or as we call them, jack-stands, since they each have two screw-jacks to adjust the support's height and angle relative to the track. The key is to keep transitions between the pieces smooth. Everything is adjustable and setting up the track just right makes a smooth ride versus one that feels like it's about to collapse. I'll shoot some porn of the good stuff tomorrow now that I know someone wants to see it.

>>3323554
Forgot to trip, ayyy.
Have a "Mighty Mouse", our second largest coaster. I don't do shit with this thing. It's work for Crane Crew #1 and his team. This ride is still chilling were we left it in Howell waiting to be disassembled if any Anons have nothing to do and want to watch in the next couple of days. No one cares as long as you stay out of the way and don't touch our shit, its very expensive and we don't want anyone to get hurt. This is when we were open last Sat. Next pic will be the coaster after the rest of our rides left on Mon. morning.
Is OpenRCT2 worth using or does it crash a bit too much?
>>3323576
It's absolutely worth using as long as you're using the most recent stable build. I haven't had any crashing and it adds a bunch of useful features.
>>3323562
I think I've watched all of those already. Basically the only way I'll be satisfied is to watch a documentary not targeted at the layman but at an engineer, covering the fabrication and construction in detail. The closest I've found is the build it bigger episode showing the construction of a woodie, but that was still targeted at the clueless.
Maybe I should just cold call them as a studying engineer. I want to build a couple backyard coasters decades in the future when I retire on rural property (not to mention the house on that property), but properly - not those shitfests that people cobble together with linear wood or pvc track.
>>3323604
As a recently graduated engineer looking to get into the industry, you'll be hard pressed to find much in depth stuff. As far as documentaries go, Devin Olson's From Dreams to Screams series on Youtube is probably the closest you'll find to what you're interested in. He's an enthusiast making them for a mostly enthusiast audience. Kolmarden is also making a really well done mini-series on their Youtube channel documenting the construction process of Wildfire which just opened up today.

Ah shit, nice!
I suppose stats are crap, though?
>>3333043
They're pretty good for what it is, but in the grand scheme of things they're bad. It's basically a flat ride.
Use the landscape tool to construct an RCT2 pyramid, model after the El Mirador in Guatemala.
>>3324389
>Is 13 excitement rating possible
I once built a go-kart track that went across the entire perimeter of Evergreen Gardens and set it to 16 laps or whatever the maximum is. The excitement rating was high-teens to twenties but everyone wanted to get off the ride.
>>3334520
Nice, make a park of it now.
Repostin' this because it was the last cool thing i made in rctlike 3 months ago
>>3335508
I get that this is some trial park, but dude, what is it with your shitty way net?
Putting in some scenery.
How come they don't like my park?
Any suggestions what to improve here, besides making sure all cars actually make the last hill and don't bounce off from the one already up there? (enforcing 5 seconds wait time is enough)
>>3338983
Earlier version with more excitement, but also some stupid-looking curves taken at rather high speeds.Crashes if a car without passengers tries to make the last hill.
>>3336767
Cool stuff, anon. With the scenery it really comes together. Hope you release a scenario around it eventually.
how many of you guys try to recreate your local amusement parks?
i live across the street from the Busch Gardens in Tampa now so I'm thinking of just going there periodically and trying to do it in RCT. probably been done before but BG has changed a whole lot in the past decade.
>>3323815
No the 7-day forcast, and countless warnings
>mfw Rainbow Valley
>mfw can't modify terrain
>mfw can't remove trees
>mfw bad at efficient coaster design
please tell me you win this scenario by plastering gentle and thrill rides everywhere.
Wow why does this suck? I even tried to cheese it with scenery.
>>3340917
>good looks
>E > I, negligible N
>not to long
Suck? Looks great to me.
>>3312897
The Boss at Six Flags St. Louis
Usually I like wooden roller coasters, but this one was WAY rickety. I literally felt like the cars were gonna fly off at any moment. 1/10 would not ride again
>>3340917
Doesn't suck at all dude, looks like a nice coaster.
>>3340917
In Rct COMFY is just as good if not better than any other style & that is hells comfy.
>>3339991
You can build underground

>>3312909
is that the same Ninja that is at Magic Mountain?
I'm going in a few days and it's my first time ever going to a park of this size so it would be nice to know what to expect
>>3340917
It sucks because it only has 1-2 slight left turnsI'd say the two turn pieces count as one turnand 4-6 right turns
>>3342039
Ninja is super comfy and often doesn't have bad lines. X is worth even a 1.5 hour wait. If the line for X is over an hour by some food like panda express to munch in line.
>>3342094
Awesome, nice to know. What about the ViperI? I heard it gave killer headaches.
Also I kind of went overboard and decided fuck it and bought the platinum flash pass, so hopefully lines won't be too much of an issue.
Went to Magic Mountain and tried the virtual reality Revolution today. Honestly, I thought it was kinda lame. The feeling of the coaster rattling around really breaks any kind of immersion, and the vision was really blurry, although maybe that was just my headset.
What irritates me is that now if I want to just go on Revolution without the headset, I've still gotta wait in the 90min+ line because of how slow the dispatches are now. Riding Revolution without the shoulder harnesses is much better than virtual reality.
Does Magic Mountain have long lines at opening too or just later when everyone turns up? I'm going to LA for a week in a month and want to swing by 2 or 3 times but lines suck man.
Is this game better than TTD?
>>3342208
Very different games and not at all comparable. I like both of them.
>>3342147
I don't really get headaches, played football in highschool and 2 years in community college, takes a lot to get a headache now
>>3340917
Looks sick m8, now do a station and maybe some terrain editing around it
Fuck, I wish there were breaks for Wild Mine Coasters...
>>3343746
Brakes are for cowards.
>build a nice ass scenic chairlift showing of the park
>cheat and make it go continuous circuit because fuck you I don't want 2 stations
>this happens
Fugg
I'm still pretty new to this game and could do with some tips. What are some things that guests love and hate? I've learned that it's better to have banked turns than normal turns and not to have steep drops that are too long, but what else is there? Just general things.
>>3344738
For coasters, try to imagine riding them yourself. High G-forces are generally uncomfortable, so try not to take turns, hills or inversions at to high speed. You want to move smoothly through the track.
Guests love water rides.
Well, the Fair is coming to Düsseldorf soon...
Anyone planing to go?
What coasters are to be expected?
>>3345110
Probably Teststrecke.
>>3344689
Sucks hard. I used the crooked house trick on one of my go kart tracks and it cut the excitement rating in half.
>>3344738
welcome to one of the best games you will ever play. heres some tips:
charge $19.50 for umbrellas (guests will still pay)
always charge free admission to park and then charge slightly more than default prices on everything other than rollercoasters and go kart/river rapids.
set these according to the excitement level of the ride, ie: excitement level 6.4, charge $6
dont raise prices for maps since they are vital
chip shops have the biggest proffit margins and make people want to drink.
set most handymen to empty bins and sweep paths only
shorten inspection times to 10minutes on rollercoasters with low unreliability
building ride tracks next to other ride tracks increases the excitement of that ride (especially with rollercoasters, river rapids, go karts)
building track/footpaths through vertical loops increases excitement alot
building underground increases excitement
building scenery next to rides increases excitement
>more excitement
>more guests
>
>(more) PROFIT
after time you will need to lower prices/rebuild rides for guests to ride them
dont build food stalls near high nausea level rollercoaster exits.
to make exciting rollercoasters
have climbs after drops which really slow the coaster down, then another drop which follows a same pattern. and so on, and so forth, till you reach the exit.
include helixes at the end of each drop and loops too.
with most coasters availiable to you alot can be acheived with a height difference of 10 from lowest point (most often station) to highest point (initial drop).
bank all curves trains are travelling at more than 15/20mph for most coasters
put brakes at the end of tracks if the trains entering the station at >20mph
always put a photo section on every ride for moe money!!
>shorten inspection times to 10minutes on rollercoasters with low unreliability
*high unreliability
Slowing down a fast ride for a brief moment before making it go fast again makes it more exciting and it also helps with turns so they are less nauseating.
>>3345286
>include helixes at the end of each drop and loops too.
I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly sempai.
>>3345345
Demolish the ride (or at least the first half) and don't make the drops as high. And make the station longer to allow more trains.
Also
>using Imperial units
>>3345360
Jeez, it was a joke. I'm not even the guy who asked...
>Demolish the ride
I didn't even bother to save, so it no longer exists
>Make the station longer to allow more trains
I prefer to use block brakes on the ride to have multiple trains running at once. I only do longer stations for longer trains.
> >using imperial units
I used to use metric, but since every site I consulted used Imperial (like >>3345286)
I simply changed the units to have a better reference.

So what should i play Openrct2 or Just the roller coaster tycoon 2?
send help
>>3345730
OpenRCT2 you twat.
>>3345730
Openrct is the best, there is basically no reason not to use it.
>>3345730
RCT > OpenRCT2 > RCT2
>>3345238
crooked house trick?
>>3312897
Sigh. Just barely too big to be portable...
Never really stopped by /vr/ before but I'm so happy this thread and all the cool shit people make exists.
>>3299446
I diamond heights there was a bunch of my guests getting stuck in one place for some reason even though there was a path that clearly went elsewhere.
I went so far as to put park maps free so they could get out and even though some had a map they still couldn't find the exit.
Guests are retarded sometimes
>>3345159
This is the largest portable coaster in the US. I don't fuck with this. It's another division of our company and they have their own schedule they move by. Experts only. You get there by handling the four smaller coasters that our company owns. Wacky Worm is a good training ground for anyone who is interested in building coasters.

Is there any theme parks worth visiting in Hamburg? I might be going on a 2 day trip to the Miniature Wunderland sometime soon and was looking to see what else is worth doing while in the area.
>>3346459
Any good woodies? A good wooden coaster is the sort of thing I'd happily make into the main purpose of a holiday.
>>3346508
Colossos is supposedly very good. But as said, I haven't been to the park in almost 20 years, before that one opened. So this is just based on hearsay.
>>3346281
>This is the largest portable coaster in the US
Düsseldorf is in Germany though. We are used to bigger portable coasters.
more practice
>>3346608
would recommend placing brakes by the station just in case. other than that looks really good
So how do you lads feel about Parkitect?
>>3318861
Maybe a bunch of daredevils and not-quite suicidal folks will flock to it though.
>>3323815
Nah, people knew it was coming. It was just the poor people who couldn't afford to go anywhere that got shit on.
>>3347198

Help me, I suck again.
How do I get RTC2 to run at 1080p
highest res it shows in options is 1280x1024
>>3347514
Play OpenRCT2 you twat. It takes all resolutions.
>>3347514
OpenRCT2
>>3347536
nice post
>>3347538
I was going by PCGamingWiki and WSGF, they mention nothing about OpenRTC2 but say it supports 1080 so I figured I could get that res without using it. I was reading the OpenRTC2 change log yesterday and noticed there were still bug fixes being made and I didn't want to have to mess with it.
Which coasters besides Wild Mouse ones allow cars to pass through doors? I want to build something similar to Mouse Towers.
>>3347543
I don't know about Open Real Time Clock 2, but I do know Open RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 supports any resolution since you can resize the window.
>>3347510
>>3347543
Ah, OpenRCT2 is bad for having bug fixes going on, but RCT2 is good for still having ten years old bugs. Makes sense.
>>3347547
car ride
Post dueling coasters, please.
>>3347703
I said "coasters". I also know that car rides and ghost trains support them, but that wasn't the question.
>>3346530
Its true. You guys have better coasters moving. Olympia Looping, Grottenblitz, EuroStar. Not to mention the bigger versions of Freak Out or monster 200ft drop towers you guys got. I'm jealous. Also, my Sizzler Scrambler took a shit today. Now I'm just cleaning up the place.

So how is life moving with a carnival? Did you have to get your own rv/trailer to live in? Is working with the stuff worth the slinging hot steel and the living like white trash?
How does one get into such a job? Do they look for some kind of exemplary experience or do you start as a lowly freight hauler or somesuch?

Are you not able to change the park admission fee and take out loans in RCT2? Or do you access such things in a different way in RCT2 compared to the first one? I tried to use the old maps in RCT2 but it really bothered me that I didn't have the same options as the original.
>>3348795
Park and ride fees are mutually exclusive in rct2. I'm not sure if there's something else going on for you, but that's the main thing.
>>3348067
>EuroStar
But it's ded now :,(
BTW, are portable coasters still being produced? It looks like most where built by Schwarzkopf, but that's out of business...
>>3348795
OpenRCT2 allows you to charge both park and ride admission via the cheat menu. Enabling both in scenario options is an open request. No idea whether vanilla allows that too. Loans are in the bottom-left of the finance window, where they have always been.
There's barely any reason to play vanilla RCT2 over OpenRCT2 anyway. It has more options and fixes some of RCT2's many blunders.
Also, keep in mind that park and company value are calculated differently now, so all those park value objectives are vastly different in RCT recreations.
>>3348325
Read OP. Read it good.
