Prehistorik Man.

I mean, seriously the game is so pleasantly beautiful and has so much style that I sincerely don't understand how is it not even metioned often. The soundtrack is competent, flows well with the humor of the game. Its also quite long for a platfomer of its time (IF you play on normal mode) and the fact that it actually has a plot and several different characters involved in the story makes it a lot more interesting.

The only thing that I would complain is the fact that the controls aren't good enough for pixel perfect platforming which the game does require every once in a while (usually in the first levels and in some parts after the second boss). Otherwise, its playability is quite satisfying and has lots of variety too.

There's also a version for good old DOS, Prehistorik II, which is actually the first one I played. Its very fun as well, but I must say the console version really improved it in every aspect.

I rarely see people mention it. It was like Sonic but with guns, with wonderful graphics, even by today's standards and an excellent soundtrack:

Not correct, Japanese call it puratofoumaa. Belt Scroller is the British term.

Wrong.

Yeah it's great too, I still prefer the SNES game a bit better due to how unique it feels, but I also like the lost vikings-like gameplay of the Genesis game.
Based old Konami who made different games for different consoles so there's no "gimped" version, just two great games.

No matter how many times you try to shill this game it's not gonna work, even just a minute of play is enough to see what a piece of trash it is. It's like a tiny little step away from Bubsy in terms of awfulness. I'll give you that it's got a good soundtrack, but even that is far from Follin's best. Give it a rest already.

hey, I am the Plok! shill who considers it a flawed masterpiece, not that guy
>>
>>3210350

That's not very fair. Bubsy is a game whose foundations are cracked to the core.

>1hko fall damage
>sanic running and jumping without Sonic's spin jump, so holding right for more than a second will kill you. successfully completing a level is a matter of slowly inching your way forward
>maze-like levels with no incentive to explore because of the strict time limit
>brutally difficult because you start out with 9 lives (hyuck hyuck)
>background scrolling is nausea-inducing and makes it hard to judge jumps
>ugly character designs that look like rejects from Zool
>mediocre graphics and soundtrack
>WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG

Plok's guilty of, what, no saves and a zoomed-in camera?
>>
>>3210758

Forgot to mention the air momentum, in which you can fight it by holding down a button, but you return to your original momentum as soon as you let that button go.
>>
>>3210758
Plok gets pretty challenging very quickly, and in an annoying way.

>First boss: two guys that spit everywhere and bounce constantly

>Second boss: three of these guys

>>
>>3212456

>they should've had saves if they were rational, but wasn't this the ghouls n goblins creator? so they hate the player as a rule.

Nope, that was all Capcom. These devs made Equinox on the SNES, and the project leads also worked on Solar Jetman and the Wizards & Warriors sequels and would later create Wetrix.

Their explanation for the lack of saving was that they could not afford battery backup and they were afraid of people posting level passwords. They later apologized and described the lack of saving as unforgivable.

In order for something to be "underrated" it would have to have been rated by someone in the first place but I bet most of you have never heard anyone say anything about the games you're talking about. Basically you're all a group of retards that can't understand the difference between "obscure" and "underrated" because you're all to fucking dumb to know how to speak your own language.
>>
>>3193267
Jelly Boy 2, an unreleased Sequel to Jerry Boy/Smartball, had its beta dumped on the Internet, and it's pretty fucking great, fixes a lot of issues with the original game, adds multiple characters with different powers, and a non-linear game design with hidden secret items necessary to achieve the true ending. I especially love the sountrack, actually listening to it right now. Same it was never released, but I have a feeling it had something to do with Sony being involved. Surprisingly it's pretty much finished, except for one character not being "finished" (she was meant to swim better than the rest, but they didn't implement that so while she still works, she's pretty useless compared to the rest, her power is only necessary at one point) and the music freezing during the true ending credits, but the game keeps going so it's fine.

There's even an English patch so you can read the characters saying "Thanks for saving me!"
