The main selling point of a video game for me is whether or not it has cute little girls in it.
Help me find some retro games with which to sate my depravity, /vr/.

Pic related is a good example of the sort of game I'm looking for.

I'm interested in this topic as well. The only retro examples that come to my mind are Cotton, KiKi KaiKai and perhaps retro Touhou.

I'm currently playing the first Madou Monogatari. She grows up in later games, doesn't she? Who wants to see that? Not me, that's for sure.
>>
Do you have an upper limit on the age?
How lewd should it be?
Do you have any preferences in genres?
There's tons of PC-98 games that can fit the bill.
>>
>>2781723
Twinkle Star Sprites has many cute girls AND is a blast to play with friends.
Asha and her Pepelogoo from Monster World IV are IMHO the cutest duo in a video game.

She's actually still pretty cute even when she grows up, as far as I'm concerned, though obviously kindergarten Arle is on a whole different level. She's freakin hilarious.

>>2781772
Personally I want cute, not lewd.
Genre doesn't really matter.
I was hoping to turn up some Saturn or SNES games I'd overlooked but I don't really mind the format.

All Izumi Takemoto games (and interactive movies) are great for cute girls. Loopop Cube is about the only one that is playable without knowing Japanese, though. Even then you loose understanding the sillycute cutscenes.

Picture is Yumimi Mix.

Daina Airan or
Dinosour Island

This is probably the best real-time console-based 2D animation I've seen. It's like many PCE cutscenes (except this one is on the Saturn) just more of it and they're moving more too. Interactive movie with no FMV in sight. Story is really cute too.

Tekipaki Working love, which is a raising simulator where you train your underlings and they take on (very) varying jobs. The story progresses through the jobs and results change depending on who you assign to what (remember also that some jobs might fit one person better etc.)

The blonde one is a guy btw.

>She grows up in later games, doesn't she? Who wants to see that? Not me, that's for sure.

She still looks cute.

Plus, the later games have a better system. My favourite is the Saturn Madou Monogatari, which is very playable even without knowing runes. You only need translations for the gear names, which are hilarious - the attack weapons for Arle are magical tiaras, while for Rulue they are knuckledusters.

It's not a dungeon crawler though, but if you want that, there is also Waku Puyo Dungeon, which is an overhead crawler with randomly generated maps and item crafting (the best gears are only available by combining existing ones in specific order, and they are insanely powerful from what I remember). It is also difficult as fuck since the game measures how much food you have eaten, and if you get hungry, you will do 1% damage.
>>

Daina Airan was the closest I've ever seen to a cartoon, that was running on a videogame. That is until Cuphead, but that's an entirely different thing.
