Unless off course somehow S/M series become battle-heavy series with Ash battling multiple trainer with super powered pokemon in almost every episode and we learn the existence of a real league that is worth winning.

Currently Ash has only two Kahuna, two totem and Gladion to be battle in S/M anime.


Truth to be told, only Ash beating Alain and winning a real official league can save this series.

Anyway, I am 90% sure that Ash will use Litten or Torracat against Nanu during his grand trial.

I don't see S/M series evolving any of Ash's pokemon unless its for marketing reason. Specially since Alola does not have gym or league that would force them to give Ash a team of fully evolve pokemon.
They could give Ash one or two fully evolve pokemon to fight ultra beast however it depend on Ash battling any ultra beast in S/M series.

That's the thing about Pokemon, compared to other anime it is really only average even XY and DP have much better options whether it being action, romance, or adventure you desire, personally I think most of the problems they have is because the anime is nothing more than a commercial to the game and so the whims of Game Freak ultimately decided where the anime goes whenever that ruins the pacing so the series ends when the next games are released, restricting the plot to using what is in the game, Ash resetting after every region in terms of his team, or companions development being restricted to one series.

DP Ash had a lot going for him and unlike battle bot xy Ash. Unlike bw Ash, SM Ash is competent and funny. Iris was shit but now you have 3 likeable female characters.
