The leveling curve in HGSS was extremely different than DPP.

If you played normally in HGSS with out grinding you will quickly find everyone on victory road out leveling you and by even a greater margin by the elite four. Plus even if you did grind it was a taxing job as most wild Pokemon were underleveled and lacked in diversity than the Sinnoh region.

Did you use quagsire or graveler or other old shit on your teams. The only other way you had EQ was if you had a torterra or grinded that 5% hippopotas.
Nothing is hard when you are a veteran and know what you are up to. Try being a kid who has only leveled up one pokemon then it's hard.
We complain this now are easy not because they were not before, but because now all it is is one trainer with one pokemon that knows one move and you get healed before the battle. Back then for a kid to be good he needed to have knowledge of the mechanics, not all it takes is a pokemon with an attacking move.

The true end is when you've defeated Red making anything after that post game. The level curve is so much lower in Johto for a reason - it runs smoothly into Kanto as it's supposed to.

Only retards who don't know the original G/S/C were meant to be the end would think otherwise.

Red is the Champion that really matters from Game Freak's perspective which means it is who should matter from our perspective because as the developers, they're the ones who set all of these things, not the idiots who play.

This is why HG/SS is as good as they are and why OR/AS can't compete. Not only did they have the extended main story, they went ahead and included the post game things from the Gen 4 games and threw in a bunch from Yellow, Crystal, and new stuff.

Meanwhile 99% of the Delta Episode is primarily an information fetch quest to a bunch of places you'd already been. And not just once in most cases as you're forced to go back and forth between a couple of them multiple times.

But I digress, Platinum is only harder for retards who pretend half of HG/SS isn't part of the game when it is.
