What do I do?

I have enough candy to get to one Tyranitar and no further (I have about 135 candies in total). Do I evolve my Stronk (71%) 695 CP Larvitar, do I evolve my Amazing (87%) 402 Larvitar that was the first I ever caught, or do I show some moderate restraint and hold out for better floptions?

You should just evolve the 87% one. Although Larvitar is an uncommon 10k hatch I have nine tards as of now and since it beats Dragonite's CP at 80% or higher it doesn't matter about how perfect it is. What makes you want to trash them is the one moveset TTar rolls. Bite/Fire Blast is awful and even situationally (Exeggutor, Metagross) it's not better than Bite/Crunch. Don't settle for that and you pretty much can't go wrong.

If they are spawning in the exact same spot, that's because there is more than one spawn point at that exact location. If they're spawning NEAR the spot but not on the exact spot, that's again, another spawn point, not the same spawn point.

Try it out yourself.
Every time you find a non-Lure non-Incense Pokemon, mark its spot on a map or something and when you caught it, and watch it straight for a few hours. Eventually you'll see a pattern that repeats every hour.

I live in a medium town that has tons of big plains (people used to plant crops there for decades but nowadays it's land for sale, anyway the point is there has been nothing there for hundreds of years probably)

there's 5 spawns right next to one of my grandparents house. They live in the middle of fucking NOWHERE, there's plains for miles around, you just take a long ass drive on one small tiny road to get there and they have 5 spawns

I used to take long walks around other fields around my town too walking my dog and you'd usually find a mon every minute or so while walking through the open field

BUT

on the street where I live, which had houses there for decades, and has tons of young people living on it (I assume that would accumulate more mobile data than my fucking grandparents who don't even use mobile phones) there's 2 spawns. 2 spawns in my sight when I'm at home and they're actually in the section of my street where the last plot for land is (just an empty field)

Spawn point data was generated from Ingress XM particle maps which were generated from some magical cell phone activity maps from 2012 or something around the start of Ingress.

So if say, a new office complex was built in a previously empty lot after 2013, then there'd be no spawns or stops or gyms on the building because it didn't exist in like 2012.

I would honestly only advise people to get that expensive watch if you live or work in a place where you can spin gyms. This way you don't have to check your phone all the time and will zip past the levels faster than anyone else. I have a friend that does this and he's lvl36.

Absolutely zero larvitars this whole event. So far I've only gotten 1 from an egg, and even then I got gypped and only got 17 candy from it, and that was during one of those supposed "double candy" events.

Same, I managed to get 2 high percentage golems, both mud slap/earthquake. Also even though I got like 200 rhyhorn candy I didn't catch a singe one with good enough IVs to justify evolving. Also zero larvitars.
But I did get a really good omastar and kabutops, as well as enough buddy candy to finally get muk and blissey, so I'll take it.
