I guess at this point there's no real reason to follow the anime anymore. Continuity is pretty much dead, Ash won't ever win a league, old characters don't return, etc.

The only hope now is the show does poorly in terms of viewership that they just finally realize the anime with Ash has run its course and give it an ending. Then do a reboot series for future games.

Pikachu is currently at 3/3 with 2 loses to Koko, 1 against Team Rocket, and a win against Hariyama, Yungoose, and Totemshoes.

Rowlet is 2/3, a win against the Yungoose and Crabrawler, and losses against Totem, Team Rocket, and James.

Rockruff is 1/0 or 2/0 if you include the fight against Magmar once it starts training with Ash.

Litten currently has 0 official fights with Ash.

XY's only real flaws is Serena's slow start (she should have been inactive for about 25 eps at the most), and then the writers building up too much to Ash/Greninja beating Alan and then not doing it.

All the other stuff is the same flaws every season has. There's always going to be pokemon on the group that get shafted and don't get much battle screentime, rivals who are lackluster, etc.
