While Pachirisu's inclusion onto Se Jun's team was a very calculated choice based on a solid understanding of the meta, it looked so out of place on the surface that its incredible displays of team support and durability were made to be even more outstanding. Pachirisu's dark horse status has basically made it synonymous with Worlds 2014, and few other Worlds competitions can claim to have something like that.

Pachirisu had a very specific set of skills that happened to be a perfect fit given the available pokemon list and state of the meta.

Lack of events is one thing along with the restructured points format means it's virtually impossible to qualify unless you spend way too much traveling between events and do well in 3 or more.

Ruleset is also a issue as '16's fuck retarded decision to allow the blatantly broken beyond belief box legendaries made for a literal no Mega Fug or Primal, no entry

Then comes the tiny super restricted format of '17 with a dex half the size of '14 with nothing but shitmons + overpowered Tapu's killed most of the interest.

They both have the same thing in common that there is no freedom in teambuilding. You have to build the team in a specific way to do anything because their field effects are too drastic coupled with being extremely strong on their own.

Pachirisu does have some neat tricks like nuzzle, follow me, and super fang, he just won because luck/people weren't prepared for his wild card pokemon (even though he still used OU shit like talonflame and garchomp)

Pachi was only 'usable' in VGC 14 because there was a lack of good redirection and Pachi provided that as well as a Zapdos and Ludicolo check. Calling it good though is an olympic level stretch.
