You have the highlights in the eye but not the figure itself, why does only the eye refract light? The hair most always has some refraction.

You can definitely show some pieces of good flat art.
But what you should notice is strong character design, color choice, most always clean lineart, and other things the original obviously didn't have.
It was a poorly done sketch with a shitty job on composition as well as pose in the head tilt. Shading is a benefit to this piece to help make the pose seem less unnatural and adds to what's most always a blandly shaded character in the first place.

So by all means, link that art. Show us why this piece gets the benefit from shading that those pieces wouldn't.
