The XY Dub is shit it's true, but nothing about it triggered me more than the title screen. One of the most fun things about XY for me was the title screen focussing on the character of the episode, something TCPI stopped doing about 7 episodes in and on like 2 other episodes throughout the rest of the run.

Tobias actually served two purposes: to be a wall Ash couldn't advance through, and to show his power and skill: he was the only trainer to defeat his Darkrai in the league (including the schmuck he faced in the finals) and not only that, he also beat his Latias.

Alan on the other hand was merely the biggest bait-n-switch ever in the league. And most damning, at the end Ash didn't show his growth as a trainer in the league because:

So i just watched the episode "the Scheme Team" which takes place immediately after the ever grande conference. After parting ways with Max and May, Ash and Brock walk from Hoenn to Kanto. However, according to the maps of these regions, they are not connected by land or bridge. How they managed to walk from Littleroot Town to Pallet Town and Pewter City in under a day is unknown. In addition, they also kept the BGM in the shorts from Movies 3-6 as well (7 & 8 had no shorts in either version), which 4Kids didn't do for their other dubs.

4Kids' Pokemon was *much* more faithful to the source material than all their other dubs, sans maybe Dinosaur King which also kept silence in that show's case.
