What happened to the silver borders on SM cards? All the pulls I've seen people post have a yellow border on them. Disappointing as Vikavolt looks amazing with the silver border.

The meta decks are VirGen as the bdif, landogarbtwo, rayeels, tdk, weavile eggs, and I might be forgetting one or two. It's fun when you're not getting raped by VirGen or a Weavile player taking way too long to make their plays.

I wouldn't recommend it until you have a couple complete standard decks and have grinded enough tradeable packs. Weavile Eggs, LandoGarbTwo, and TDK were good entry decks last ladder, they're a little more expensive now. RayEels is pretty cheap since most of the stuff comes from a battle arena deck.

Sure if the garbage Lando player keeps them asleep with lasers turn after turn, they miss their scrapper and junk arms, dead draw for several turns and don't put you to sleep. Fun fact, Lando loses hard to Weavile as it can't get a KO without laserbank, and Weavile is so fluid it can just come back, scrap the float and KO the Lando for two prizes the very next turn. Donphan is the deck that beats Weavile, not Lando.

How do I reach 4 stars on the Trainer's Challenge? Since I only have the three beginner decks (water, fire and lightning), I can only reach 3 stars in each trainer. And I need to reach 4 starts in order to receive a booster.

So I live in Japan and decided to pick up a booster pack from a 7/11 on a whim. I got this guy in it and there's a holographic sort of thing going on with it. Is that normal for all GX cards? Also, did I get lucky pulling a GX card on my first pack, or is it a "one in every booster" sort of deal?

I destroyed it with DarkTina.

They use their GX attack once, then you Chaos Wheel them forever so they can't use DCEs and their damage output drops to basically nothing. In the meantime, you just build up a Darkrai on the bench that can hit for 200+ damage.

This sounds more like an unfortunate situation where you bricked, rather than getting torn apart by Umbreon GX. Not saying you definitely would have won, but I think it should be a decent matchup, especially with a resistance to Darkness.

If Umbreon GX, does get popular though, I can see a lot of people running Passimian. With 3 Passimian on the bench, it hits 200 (and you'll only need 2 on the bench when Choice Band comes out).

I like the pins in some of EX boxes.

Nigger, they're printing so much shit to counter night march that it's crazy.

First they release Karen.
Not good enough they say, so they release a pokemon that just does damage counters for each pokemon in your opponents discard.

Knock out all the night marchers they have on their field in one turn for ONE colorless energy.
It's ridiculous and the only counterplay night march has is fighting fury belts which can just be scrapped off.

The best decks in expanded are maxie yveltal, toad/decuideye, and probably sableye/garb if only because even matchups across the board.

Looks like a few folks are running into an issue uninstalling/reinstalling the game on PC when it's installed in a language other than English. Players may receive a "property.USER_PROFILE cannot be accessed" error when attempting to uninstall the game through the Programs menu.

While the dev team works to address this issue, the workaround for this issue is to run the Pokémon TCG Online installer file and selecting "uninstall." To do this on PC, find the installer (should be named PokemonInstaller.msi) and re-run it, but select the "uninstall" option.

Sometimes people give out codes in these threads by posting a photo (with the QR code covered as explained in the OP).

If you were to do that though, I would recommend spreading out the codes over a few hours/days, rather than doing them all in one go. I say that because recently some individuals have been the first to see a post with codes and have redeemed all of them without giving others a chance.

That said though, >>31665772 makes a good point. The code cards aren't worthless and if you have a large amount of them, you could sell/trade them for a decent amount (depending on the packs the codes are for).

I just got back into collecting cards after not paying attention to the scene since the Team Rocket/Dark set. We had common, uncommon, and rare. What's all this ultra reare, secret rare, super rare mumbo jumbo and how do I tell which is which?

Also, purely as a collector and not as a player, what gives the best bang for the buck in terms of getting cards? Booster boxes, those metal tins, etc.

I should explain that people pull the booster codes from packs of paper cards, and people who don't play online or don't need any more boosters online will sell the codes. Individual packs are about $0.30-$1.29 depending on which pack it is. You can buy in bulk for cheaper. I got 100 packs of SM, which is 1,000 cards, for $32 on ebay. Cost of those in paper would be about $300 if you bought booster boxes.

You can definitely build top-level meta meta decks in PTCGO without spending any money at all.

It's a bit of a grind to begin with (as you will be stuck playing Theme matches), but once you get hold of a few packs you are basically set. Trading profitably in the PTCGO market is so easy that you can start with just a handful of packs (won from in-game tournaments) and trade up to the point where you can create full, competitive meta decks within a few weeks.

That seems a bit like wishful thinking. Greninja completely bypasses it, Lysandre/Escape Rope bypass it and Garb/Hex cut your damage down to a balloon.

I'm not convinced that it's worth using deck space to give up a guaranteed prize to your opponent when the best case scenario is 120 damage. At least with something like Electrode+Raikou, you can deal damage turn after turn.

I'm happy to be proven wrong though; if you figure out a good deck, post it here.
