Many years ago, I owned a shiny Pidgey, Zubat and Mankey in my FireRed, and a shiny Fearow in Diamond, but I've lost them due to game corruptions (the latter) and shitty kids in middle school (the former). In every game I've owned since Crystal, I'd find a shiny Pokemon without even trying, and I figured why not just find every Pokemon shiny while the odds are lower? I'm making a shiny living dex and I'm currently 424 out of 802 (421 if you don't count the event Rayquaza, Yveltal or Xerneas).

Skill Swap + Telepathy (Hidden Ability) is the best strat then with either Gardevoir's evo line or Munna's evo line, but I recommend Gardevoir for the better Speed. You can also use Gardevoir in Durant hordes that may include Heatmor. I recommend putting Skill Swap, Thunder Wave/Hypnosis, Thunderbolt/Psychic and Heal Pulse on it. EVs, IVs and nature don't matter, but you should have your base Speed stat at least 80 to outspeed Durant in a horde.

Shiny legendaries not making sense within the story were never a problem. Wanted a shiny Palkia/Dialga? Get lucky and SR like an idiot for it. But it was possible. It could be the first one you encountered for all you knew.
They just had to ruin it for everyone by locking legends in gen5 and onwards.
I guess it's a way to mitigate illegitmates from plaguing the GTS but c'mon, locking every fucking thing now is as party pooper as it gets.

I did the MM with the magikarps and after 144 eggs, I hatched a shiny one. I SR and got the same number of eggs of minior and number 144 didn't come out shiny. Am I missing something?

I'm not 100% on the method yet, but I know that swapping in a genderless pokemon does shift the shiny seed for the eggs over due to the lack of rolling for gender. There's a way to compensate but I don't know it, sorry

When you do it for a genderless pokemon you need to skip the first egg, then receive the second egg. First one is skipped, second received, third skip, 4th received and so on. Keep track of the ones you skip and receive separate from each other until you reach 288 eggs in total since you're going to be going through twice as many eggs if its for a genderless shiny. Once you reach the 144th egg on the received side, you should have your shiny.

Yes, so if its your 4th box and you saved in sets of 30, you should go through 48 eggs in total since your shiny egg is the 24th one. I thought you went through 144 eggs all at once, so sorry for the confusion. Your shiny should be in the 24th egg on the received side.

Good luck with that. I had to use a smeargle with recycle for one ditto to turn into and used a hypno to switcheroo it a leppa berry so it would spam recycle forever. Took me roughly 5 days to get my 4IV ditto (sp.def and speed were the only two left out) and I named him Bloo.

Unfortunately it doesn't transform into the shiny version of the pokemon its turning into unless its also shiny itself.

I made one that had 31 HP, Def, and Sp.def Ivs that I used as part of a sunny day team (basically it had sticky web, toxic, sunny day, and protect while holding a heat rock and after setting up and stalling a few mons with toxic and finally dying, I switched into Timid Mega Charizard Y with Solar Power and swept everything provided no rocks were set up. Had a stalling torterra with rapid spin to deal with that)
