Just finished hakamo-o after a four day SOS battle, really tough one with all of those buffs/debuffs on it's kit which was definitely intentional.

I use Leaf blade with max pp, spirit shackle, substitute, and false swipe. I recommend having a good stock of leppa berries though and you can probably swap out the spirit shackle with better coverage/moves with more pp.

You could if you want to be entirely reliant on leaf blade for KOs, or replace leaf blade with something with more pp like leafage if you wanted. I also usually give Decidueye some leftovers so it can heal while sub is up since it prevents stat drops/afflictions and dot like infestation.

This is all dependant on whether or not you have access to a foreign ditto with decent IVs. Out of the 14 shiny eggs I've hatched, they've all had at least 5IVs with the correct nature each time. Sure if you don't have a good enough ditto, a destiny knot, and an everstone, SOS is definitely the way to go. At the end of the day they both work, YMMV.

You can only HT a level 100 pokemon, which means you're wasting a lot of time leveling in a gen that is annoying to level up in. Plus HT doesn't actually change the IVs, it just gives you the stats of having the max IVs; a moot point but still.

SOS is way faster for the same end result if you don't need the egg moves, and requires far less setup and no injected breeding dittos (while you can get a legit perfect breeding ditto it's nigh impossible to do, especially a foreign one). SOS is still vastly superior to breeding in almost every way if you can synch it. Breeding should really be reserved for stuff that is unusable if wild caught (like one needing egg moves) or it is unable to SOS (like Wimpod, Komala, or Minior).

Unless of course you enjoy breeding, then more power to you because the whole point of it is that it be less tedious.

The shiny Clefable I got during Soul Silver.
Even has Magic Guard, 31 Sp. Atk IV, modest nature, caught in a moon ball, and male on top of that.
I evolved it on Soul Silver though so screwed it out of learning Moon Blast. I regret having to fix that using PKHex++ on AS but whatever.

I got a Friend Ball Bagon off Wonder Trade
It had shit IVs (none perfect), so I started breeding it with one of my Gibles
Got a shiny on the first egg but its IVs are just.. not good

the only ways to break the chain are:

- run
- kill all pokemon
- have only a pokemon not related to the original left (so having only a chancey out in a bonsly chain will break the chain, but having a sudowoodo won't.)

What's you guys hunting for right now? I'm SOSing for a shiny Bounsweet and I'm about 100 in.

Not true for the last point, if the SOS can still call, it will not break the chain. However, most reinforcements cannot call (like the chansey you mentioned) so it does break the chain there.
E.g. if X pokemon species calls Y pokemon species, and Y can call more Y, then you can continue chaining from Y species. However if X pokemon species calls Z pokemon species and Z cannot call (like Sableye), then that pokemon cannot be used to continue the chain.

This shit is pure RNG, what makes it superior is that you encounter more pokemon at a time and it increases the chance. You can do 4096 separate SOS calls above 70 but still never get a shiny. That's part of hunting.

Masuda is 1/683, so it is the same. With the shiny charm it supposedly goes to 1/512, but SOS is supposed to be faster.
