Yeah, some of these voices are bizarre. (Some are alright - I like Kukui's). And I think that the Japanese writers must have been trolling the localization staff when they decided to include a character who speaks entirely in Pokémon-name puns that will almost never translate properly.

I do like the music so far, but the dub always keeps the original music for the first few episodes before replacing it with their own stuff, so I imagine that'll go downhill quickly.

I thought the same. The new head writer is Aya Matsui, who only wrote two XY episodes, one of which included a fairly lengthy enka scene that was no doubt a complete mess in the dub.

I actually think that the dub substantially improves over the course of DP. The new actors have the voices down a lot better by the end. The original is much better, of course, but I thought the dub was quite watchable by later in DP.

I think Kiawe, Samson, and Sophocles are pretty much the only decent dub voices in the SM dub. Ash is still trash and it's been the same lady since the BF which is laughable, Delia sounds like a tranny and again, it's the same lady since BF, Prof. Oak sounds like a nasally faggot who sounds evil at times and it's the guy who stole that role since BF once again who previously did Gary in the old (and much better) dub, Kukui has a pleasant voice but it doesn't work for his really laid-back persona without the accent, Mallow sounds kinda mature for her age, Lillie same as Mallow, Lana sounds like she's got a cold, etc.

Dub will most likely replace the OST in SM's proper run, most likely, this same exact shit happened with XY's dub run so that's why I say this.

I think that's been a problem a lot recently. They rushed through the badges in BW, but then had to stall for time at the end with a filler arc. And as you said, the end of XY seemed strangely paced also. DP was the last series that seemed timed well, and even that had a very long gap between badges near the end.

My guess is that the communication from Gamefreak regarding game timing must not be very good, and the anime writers have to adjust as they go without always knowing how long they'll have.

Fair enough, I don't agree with all of that but it's a fair opinion (and its tough to disagree on how grating Team Rocket became; too bad they overshot the mark in BW).

To be honest, I never thought that the new cast was substantially worse than the old one. There were a couple of *very* rough seasons at first, but after that transitional period, I think they're perfectly fine. The original will always be better, but I wouldn't really mind the dub much at all if it wasn't for the music replacement.

I think the newer dub cast is substantially worse than the older dub cast, honestly, but to each their own. I wish I could say the music replacement was my only problem (and don't get me wrong, it's still a major problem), but the acting is worlds below the older cast for me, and same goes for the script writing- I don't know why TPCi thought it was a good idea to have Meowth talk about "lugs" or "Dig it" or Ash saying "I'm so psyched, ya know?" type shit, but it's irritating.

I can stomach the dub up through late AG, but after that, the Anime is entirely preferable in Japanese for me. BW Season 1 was the only time I thought the newer dub cast even tried, but they stopped giving a damn right after that, so I could care less.

The Johto anime is also pretty unique in that in started a month before the games came out due to a last minute delay of the games.
