Only good thing form this event was enough bulbasaur to evolve my bulba into a 1000 something ivysaur and a wild charmeleon that was 1038. Shit spawns for starters but I'm hoping for better luck today.

I kinda wish it was more like the games. I understand not having four moves but is there really any reason why immunities and the actual super-effective multiplier didn't carry over beyond making gym battles longer?

I think it's just ass backwards you can't take out a Snorlax with a fighting type pokemon simply bc it has Zen Headbutt and is too tanky despite getting hit with fighting moves. It just makes me resort to using a team of Vaporeon for any gym as a backup plan.

The way battles in this game work make it difficult to implement things like immunities because the lag can be so bad at times that switching results in your mon coming in at 50% etc but idk if they can even fix stuff like that without changing it to round based fighting because not everyone has a very good connection all the time.

Spin the ball, you always want the curve throw.
Go for the great throw, you can get it when the circle is still pretty big, don't waste balls trying to get the excellent throw.
Time your throw, if the mon just jumped or attack, he's is less likely to do it right away, even if sometimes he'll just attack or jump 3 or 4 times in a row.
Don't throw too fast, so you can use your reflexes to refrain yourself from throwing the ball if the mon jumped or attacked at the last moment.
Anticipate, when a mon jumps or attacks, the size at the beginning and at the end of it's jump or attack will be almost the same, you can start a throw while the mon is still jumping or attacking, this will get the mon in the ball 100% of the time because he will not have enough time to jump or attack again.

More than 20 years ago I did make sports (ARDF) that was related to HUNTING using special gear for direction finding. I was many years in national team for ARDF. PokemonGO provides gear for HUNTING using proximity finding. I am lvl33 now, but reaching 40 would still take year(s)? Well this gives me time to finish the book! I am writing about my very own experiences on the way. I wonder, any comments? I'm as young as 51 in small city, using F2P (to keep the fun factor) only. OK, I think the existance of /pgg/ does help me a bit to keep working on the book. Gotta go to get a lot of charmanders..

"Team grey" is the tactic of leaving gyms empty after dropping a gym's prestige to zero.
If there is an overwhelmingly dominant gym-holding team in one area, then, short-term "team grey" guerrilla tactics are often the most effective way to brake the hold of the dominant team.

Reasons:

There have been many stories about the source of the Pokémon Go map including OpenStreetMap. I noticed that not too far away from me there are two small ponds near a square that are not on the map, so I added those to OpenStreetMap. (there's also an even smaller pond nearby, so I thought adding these slightly bigger ponds wouldn't be unfair or cheating, but rather more accurate and fair)

The smaller pond nearby is not shown on google maps, but it is on OpenStreetMap. It'd spawn a suspicious amount of water pokemon for a spawn point that's not a water biome (and the chance of multiple water spawn points being not near any water would be way too small for it to be a coincidental water spawn - so I'm quite sure it is a water biome)

This made me wonder, how long does it take for map updates to be visible on Pokémon Go? This also goes for street updates (I've seen the change of a crossroad to a roundabout, so I know it does happen every now and then) Comment with your personal experiences! Have you ever seen map updates on Google Maps/OpenStreetMap being accepted into Pokémon Go and how long did it take?
