XY was fine pacing wise. Only BW drastically changed pacing for the worse.

What's weird is that it's from the same group that animated BW and XY/XY&Z, Team Kato. If ratings really become shit then we should see them slowly change the format of the SM series. It's what happened to BW, but that failed terribly. They're most likely at Episode 35+ with animating episodes.

Objectively there is a huge difference in artstyle between the two, plus battles as we've seen are animated differently. People seem to prefer XY as it's better quality, due to higher budget.

Compare the first Pikachu vs. Bunnelby battle to Rowlet vs. Oricorio. Or watch Ash vs. Viola, you'll know what I mean. It just seems more detailed maybe because of shading, coloring or more CGI kinda graphics but you can't say there's no difference.
