Mimikyu w/ Normalium-Z
252 HP, 252 Attack, 4 Def
Adamant

- Shadow Sneak
- Splash
- Play Rough
- Toxic

I lead with Megamence and this stays in reserve to revenge-kill, then set-up. I use Z-Splash because it ignores Taunt and I don't like the Life Orb recoil. I have no reason to ever switch it out either. Some people might wonder why I don't just use SD twice - simple reason is every single turn in Battle Spot is danger, so the less time spent setting up the better.

Shadow Sneak to get the kill, Z-Splash for instant x3 attack. I can usually tank one or two hits even with disguise down, and most enemies die in 2 Shadow Sneaks. No LO recoil is what keeps you in the game longer.

I never use Play Rough unless it's absolutely necessary, it's only there as strong neutral STAB against Normals, and a way to deal with bulky Dark types like Umbreon (i.e. I will just Shadow Sneak Dragons instead of risking the 10% miss). Abusing priority lets you ignore flinch bullshit, get guaranteed hits in that ensure your third pokemon can get the kill, etc. etc.

Toxic is there because I realised Sneak + Rough is pretty functional coverage, and it's annoying Walls that tend to end my runs. I had other offensive moves and I never used them because Press Sneak to Win is a viable strategy.

Looks kinda wacky, but it stood the test and got to 50s.

This, it also applies for other mons.

>>
>>31082954
>>Golisopod is good in the Battle Tree, guys
enough of this meme
>>
>>31080834
I'm becoming increasingly frustrated that the EV training items and Mega Stones are locked behind BP. I don't have the time to SOS chain for EVs without any of the items (I have Pokerus, but that's not enough), and PokePelago takes forever.

I ended up getting decently far with a Red Card Mimikyu lead, Life Orb Koko, and Toxapex until I hit a trainer with a Sableye, Camerupt and Caracosta.

Apparently confusion goes through Disguise, and it completely fucked my run. My Mimikyu ended up breaking its own disguise and then hitting itself again with a +2 Confusion, failed Confusion for a third turn and was then hit with a Shadow Ball... killing it. Sableye is Red Carded out to Carracosta, I send in Koko and use Grass Knot. It survives with Sturdy and proceeds to heal with a Sitrus and Shell Smash. I go for another Grass Knot and KO it, then in comes Camerupt. Switch out to Toxapex and my only real option is Scald. Camel beats me in speed and gets a crit on EQ, hitting me to the red. I stall to get back HP, but it crits again and kills me. Tapu comes in and does pathetic damage with Grass Knot before being critted to death with an EQ as well.

This wasn't even Super Singles. This was normal. Wtf is this shit?

How the hell am I ever going to get any BP to start building legitimate teams? Wtf was Game Freak thinking
>>
>>31083713

Both Pokepelago and Festival Plaza give you ways of farming EVs, alongside chaining which gives you EVs exponentially so past a certain point the lack of a power item becomes meaningless.

You honestly don't need them in the same way you did for previous games, they're just conveniences in this game. In terms of Inheritance, they're outclassed by Destiny Knot..but.

Destiny Knot is a different story - that IS bullshit that it costs BP to get, the only alternative way to get one is to farm with Pickup which is tedious and unreliable.
>>
>>31083713

Use Pelago for establishing e.v training.

Use Tapu's/Ultra Beasts to start yourself off to buy the destiny knot so you can breed proper versions of normal mons.

>>
>>31083747
You got hit by 3 crits in a row. Shit sucks, but what do you expect?
>>
>>31083823
>>31083857
Very much agreed. If you really need an EV trained mon *now* you need to just suck it up and get a few wins before buying a power item (they're pretty cheap anyways), but Pelago is the best way.

In like 17 hours you can get a stat fully trained for 18 mons (if you use beans, which you should). So, if you make your team, you just need to wait two days and play something else while they train. It's never been comfier.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
>>
I got 54 in doubles with Mimikyu, Fini, Alolan Marowak, and Celesteela.

Mimikyu(Fairium Z)
-Adamant
-252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 Sp. Def
-Wood Hammer
-Play Rough
-Shadow Sneak
-Swords Dance

The key to this was using the Z Fairy type move whenever there was anything that didn't resist it and needed to be eliminated quickly. It really helps that Z-moves ignore accuracy/evasion and Encore. Wood Hammer also helped deal with a lot of the bulky water types they'd send out.

To make sure Mimikyu didn't get burned or paralyzed or anything, I used Fini as its partner. Mine's kinda weird which is why it didn't suvive most of the time but it sometimes did the job sweeping.

Tapu Fini (Terrain Extender)
-Timid
-252 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Moonblast
-Ice Beam
-Scald
-Calm Mind

The AI started sending out a lot of sun teams my way to get Solarbeam off on Fini so I had to watch out for that. Whenever I expected them to use an electric type move I would switch to Marowak.

Alolan Marowak (Thick Club)
-Adamant/Lightningrod
-252 Atk, 252 HP, 4 Speed
-Flare Blitz
-Earthquake
-Shadow Bone
-Protect

I made sure to keep him in the back unless I absolutely had to switch out to him because with his low speed and flare blitz he usually only got to attack once.

Celesteela (Life Orb)
-Modest
-252 Sp. Atk, 252 HP, 4 Sp. Def
-Flamethrower
-Energy Ball
-Flash Cannon
-Air Slash

A bit slower than I would have liked, but this one also lived and was useful for switching in whenever I predicted they would try to poison Fini or whenever I needed a free earthquake from Marowak.

When I got to Blue though I was really lucky. Fini's Ice Beam managed to actually freeze his Mega Pidgeot and his Tyranitar's sandstorm finished off both his Arcanine and his Gyarados.

A type: null set cause he looks infinitely better than his evo
Impish, full defenses investment @eviolite
Toxic
Roar
Swords Dance
Crush Claw

The moveset is kinda trash but it gets some work done. The point was exploring his eviolite bulk which is very respectable. Even without recovery dude could take a hit.

He might play better in doubles where I can hand him some partner recovery.

Got to 50 right now, after some tries and ragequits due to bullshit RNG.

Team used:

Tapu Koko @ Choice Specs
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Ability: Electric Surge
Level: 100
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch

Salamence (M) @ Salamencite
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 100
Jolly Nature
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance

Toxapex (F) @ Black Sludge
IVs: 0 Atk
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 100
Shiny: Yes
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic
- Haze
Specs Koko does wonders, 90% of the time I just pressed Thunderbolt, even if the enemy resisted it, I got some 2HKOs pretty easily.

Also, even if I used Double-Edge, I think Return works actually better on megamence.

>get to Battle 10
>fight Sina
>didn't expect her that early
>her Drampa single handedly sweeps my entire team, with Quick Claw procs to boot

That thing hits like a truck.

Also, I need advice. I have these two:

Mega Salamence
Jolly, 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Double-Edge
- Roost

Aegislash @ Spooky Plate
Brave, 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Def
- Swords Dance
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak
- King's Shield

And both do alright. I've had times where they can set up in front of a Pokemon without fear. But I need a third Pokemon to balance them out. I tried Tapu Bulu as a filler but I didn't realize that meant I had more Ice weaknesses. I might try out Azumarill since I'm lacking in any good Dark type resists. What are some other Pokemon that could round out my team?
>>
>>31087166
All three are perfectly good options
But I'd incline more between poison jab or iron head
>>
If its down to 1 Pokemon on each side and the opponent uses explosion that knocks out both Pokemon who wins?
>>
>>31087039

It takes ages, use Rare Kitchens instead. The Festival Plaza is a chore, but play your cards right and you'll be glad you bothered to set it up properly.

You need to use Festival Plaza to farm for Bottle Caps too, so there's no real reason to ignore it.

You want two Rare Kitchens - either both 5 stars, or have one 5 and one 4 which is cheaper.

Getting to Plaza Level 30 and beating the E4 unlocks:
Rare Dinner, which ups levels by 7
Rare Buffer, which ups levels by 9

However both options have caps, so you have to:

Get a pokemon up to level 66
Use Rare Dinner to up to 73
Use Rare Dinner to up to 80
Use Rare Buffet to up to 89
Use Rare Buffet to up to 98
Then use two rare candies for the remaining levels.

Then you can Hypertrain.

It's no Blissey Bases, but it's pretty cut and dry - you can just about grind a mon to Level 66, and from then on use Rare Kitchens.
>>
>>31087244
You do? I think
>>
>>31087247
Isn't hyper training just a modifier though? Like it won't pass on via breeding.
>>
>>31087244
iirc if someone uses a recoil move and both faint, the one who used the move wins. It might be the same with explosion.
>>
>>31087274
Yes.
>>
>>31087274

It's just a modifier that over-writes your stats. If you look at your Judge it will say "Hyper-Trained" instead of Best, and children will inherit whatever IV it was before hyper-training.

You use it for Legendaries, Shinies with bad IVs, your best bros. Anything else, you just grab a 6IV Ditto and breed as normal.

Another thing it's good for is that it doesn't change your Hidden Power, so from Gen 7 onwards its possible to have whatever Hidden Power you want and still have perfect IVs.
>>
>>31087286
>>31087262
>>31087244
I think it's whoever faints last

With recoil moves your target faints first and that's what should seal the deal. But with Explosion, the user faints first.

You gotta run a mon who can deal with status.
Komala is a very nice choice cause he fucks with the AI. Magic Bounce users also work well.
I also use an umbroen with lum berry. Get statused, syncronize it back, heal instantly.
>>
>>31087846
yes but I wasn't sure what to make my other back up, since I keep running into Ground types(fucking Dugtrio).
tried Tapu bulu but kept getting screwed by Iron head flinch hax. So I'm down to two mons atm.

At least the battle tree lets you know if you are a terrible player.
>>
Got to 36 before making some stupid choices with Minior, Fini, and Mega-gros. Admittedly, I should've lost at 30, but Cynthia decided not to bullet punch an easy kill and let me have it.
Shell smash Minior did some great work, especially with how poorly the ai handles status moves and shields up. Anything that'll get a fast taunt out and intimidate will ruin his day though.
>>
>>31088002
I used Megamence and Krookodile as my backups for Koko and Xurkitree. They both cover Koko and Xurk's weaknesses fairly well and having 2 intimidates is really useful. The team is kind of weak to ice though, but most ice types are easy to OHKO
>>
>>31088103
I had used M-Mence and Garchomp as back up before and Ice still fucked me.

Though I'm not sure how a earthquake misses twice in a row.
>>
>>31087977
How does komala deal with gengar? Sleep is the one status he's susceptible to.
>>
>>31088182
Earthquake missing twice is due to bright powder and unlucky RNG.

I'm actually surprised at how few ice types the battle tree has used against my team, considering how weak my team is to it. It mostly uses Mamoswine since it has a type advantage against my entire team, but Xurkitree OHKOs it with energy ball before it can do anything.
>>
>>31088320
how did you deal with A-Dugtrio? Everytime that thing shows up it either flinchhax's my team or doesn't die from flamethrower.

>>
>>31087822
I pair Xurk with Pelipper. Rain gives you access to Thunder, and Wide Guard lets you Discharge, plus it protects you from EQ.
>>
>>31088880

What build on Pelliper specifically? Currently holding off on Xuritree since I went for HP Ice over I.V's so they're worthless for now.
>>
Is Pheromosa a better pick to use than Kartana in Singles? If so what set should I use? I usually use Kartana to as my Fairy and Water killer.
>>
>>31081059
On my first run on the battle tree, I used a team that seemed pretty shitty in hindsight, but it worked out really well in the end.

Tapu Koko w/Terrain Extender
Tbolt
Volt switch
Dazzling gleam
Brave bird

Tsareena w/Life Orb
Play Rough
HJK
Trop Kick
U-turn

Golisopod w/Sitrus Berry
First impression
Liquidation
Aqua jet
Poison Jab

Naive, jolly, and Adamant, in that order. I got to 49 wins, took down Red's Mega Venusaur and Blastoise at the cost of Golis and Koko...

...and then missed an HJK on Snorlax. I have not been able to replicate those results to this day. I've tried everything, Mega Metagross, hyper offense, stall, dragon spam, bird spam, Ash Greninja, you name it, the furthest I got was 43 with Gastrodon, Mega Luke and the frog before losing to scarf Pinsir with Close Combat. I've given up for now, maybe ill try again when I can transfer the rest of my Showdown team, titled "KoKo's Bizarre adventure: Heatran is unbreakable".
>>
>>31088880

Narnko (Weavile) (M) @ Fist Plate

Max speed, with some investment in HP and SpA. I gave it Focus Sash with Wide Guard, Tailwind, and I experimented with moves like Soak, Hydro Pump, Scald, Hurricane, Ice Beam. Most likely. I mean, I don't think there has ever been a truly illegal set in a Battle Facility that has also remained illegal (not counting Abilities that were retconned of course). There were unreleased Hidden Abilities already in XY Battle Maison but they're all legal now. Kommo-o might get Shell Smash as a new egg move or maybe as a tutor move in the next game.
>>
>>31090104
I actually think the Battle Royal is fucking worse. At least in the Tree, outside of hax garbage, you have consistency. And you're only facing two opponents at once (and when you are, you have an ally).

But the Battle Royal is absolutely fucking disgusting. It's basically 1 v 3, spread moves are everywhere, Protect is everywhere, and if the AI isn't ganging up on you, then they're kill stealing whatever you're gunning for. On top of that, it's not enough to survive, you have to survive and get the most KOs. If you get knocked out, you're done for. If you survive and didn't get the most KOs, you're done for. Just trying to fucking survive as it is, is already fucking hard enough, so you have to fucking be at the top of your offense game or kill steal because your life depends on it. FUCK the Battle Royal and FUCK anyone who thought it was a good idea.

>For what purpose?

You're kidding right? Speed and being faster than your opponent should almost always be your main priority for your sweeper.
>>
>>31090357
Holy shit
Now that I think about it, I've never seen Trick Room in super singles
Only ever see it in Doubles or Multis
>>
>>31090341
>>31090352
Speed means jack shit when you're not actually KOing anything. Jolly is better for meta, but there's not a lot of Pokemon in the tree that outspeed Adamant Mimikyu, and even then, they either die or take major damage from +2 Shadow Sneak.
>>
AUTG-WWWW-WWW3-N5Z4
Lost in doubles to a full legendary team at 72.
I already accepted my loss when I fucked up hard on the second turn, but if I knew Latios was going to target my Milotic instead at the end I definitely could've pulled it off. I don't regret anything though; getting this far with 3 of my favorites is very gratifying.

Time to start on super singles, I suppose.

>>

A +2 shadow claw/play rough will easily 1/2hko basically everything that isnt named walrein. Again, its like you want to lose your streak.

>>31090427
>tfw brute forced the living shit out of Royale with Pheromosa, Mimikyu and Lele
>>
>>31090434
I take it from this that leading with Mimikyu and SDing first turn is the way to go on Super Singles?
>>
>>31090434
But I'm not, because Mimikyu is usually killing 2-3 mons on its own.
I'm not saying Jolly is terrible, but there's numerous times where I feel like the extra Attack was necessary in netting certain 1-2HKOS. Then again, I'm running Lum Berry to abuse the constant status abusers the tree throws at it, Jolly + LO probably hits harder anyways
>>
>>31090488
Yep. With a lum you really only have to worry about trick room shitters, everything else melts very easily with a sd.
>>
>>31090268
I actually do have a jolly momikyu, 5iv but its speed is Fantastic..should i just keep breeding or roll with that one?
>>
>>31090457
Oh I did too, I'm just grinding Master's for BP so I can play VGC
>>
>>31090516
Never settle for less than the best anon, go breed one thats 5iv missing spa, bro.

>>
>>31090393
I keep running in to this Bronzong that has (for god knows what reason, its never with an appropriate team) Trick Room/Rain Dance/Gyro Ball/something.
>>
Should I use Pheromosa or Kartana for Battle Tree

Pheromosa is more bulky than Kartana by not a lot but Kartana has more Attack
>>
>>31084202
How mad were you
Be real with me
>>
>>31084202
...I'd just walk away and never look back
>>
>>31090562
5 BP per win with cheese teams is much faster than 1 per battle (and getting reset all the time because the tree fucks you up the ass by counter-building you)
>>
>>31090613
Kartana.
Smart Strike removes Minimize users, and unlike the roach of a healthy meta, it doesn't rely on a base 90 accuracy move that can kill you.
>>
>>31090613
>Pheromosa is more bulky than Kartana
Anon, I think you need some help.
>>
>>31090640
I say more bulky when I mean more HP.

Not like Chansey bulk.

>>31090558
And I still almost made the comeback.

If I wasn't forced to use Bulldoze with Milotic instead of Icy Wind I could probably go extremely far with that team.
>>
>>31090628
2 goes to 3
3 goes to 4
4 goes to 5
5 goes to 6
6 goes to 7 + 50
7+

In the long run the tree is better but battle royale is more bearable if you don't have a useable team for the tree.
>>
>>31090628
Battle Tree with cheese team on Super Singles can get you to 20/25 battles easily, it's slower, but you get so much more BP that way
>>
>>31090648
no way. the extra hp means dick-all when you've got defensive stats of less than 50. kartana at least can soak up several neutral physical attacks before going down. pheromosa will go down to a stiff breeze
>>
>>31090648
>71/37/37
vs
>59/131/31
Pheromosa can at the very most take one very weak priority attack. Kartana can atleast take some physical hits fairly well.
>>
do i want adamant or jolly garchomp
what about mence?
>>
>>31090701

Jolly
>>
>>31090701
Jolly on both
>>
>>31090701
Jolly and Scarfed
I have an Adamant Scarfed one that barely outspeeds anything
>>
>>31090734
I run a jolly banded chomp and I rarely find things that outspeed it. The only things I can think of that would outspeed an adamant scarf is that one shitty scarfed rock slide aero or wally's scarfchomp.
>>
I am so proud of making it to Super Single 70. So proud. So hard!
>>
>>31082954
why no bullet punch on meta? just wondering
>>
Isn't MegaMence's best nature Adamant though, or is that just the meta?
>>
side note for anyone who doesn't know: 150 speed (equivalent of max speed base 85) with scarf or another +1 boost is enough to outspeed any unboosted Pokemon in the Tree

might be worth allocating some EVs into bulk if you're using scarf, Tailwind support, DD, etc.
>>
>>31090912
Key word is unboosted. I've seen some rock polish, dragon dancing pokemon in the Battle Tree. Others even have choice scarves.
>>
>>31090912
82 scarfed is still fast enough for me ignoring other scarf users. Get fucked mega gengar

>plan was to have Whimsicott set up wind and support, then for Vika to come in and spam Discharge with Oranguru Instruct when one falls
>everyone but Garchomp is basically irrelevant
Same with my singles set; no matter who I have in my lead, it's always Skarmory for mons that that give Chomp trouble, and vice versa

Why is Chomp so good?
I didn't even want to use him at first, but man
Also, I clearly hate using non-breedable mons
>>
I didn't save the video of me beating Red DX!!! AHHHHHHHH

I can say my pokemon though. I used:

Mimikyu @Red Card
Adamant 4Hp/252Att/252Speed
-Play Rough
-Shadow Sneak
-Swords Dance
-Destiny Bond (When I outsped and the opponent has an annoying pokemon out, I would tend to sack Mimikyu for the greater good. You may disregard this, but can you say you have the answer for Mega Steelix, Regirock, or Registeel?)

Porygon2 @Eviolite
Calm 252HP/166Def/92Sp.Def
-Recover
-Trick room (only for itself, really nice for those Paraflinchers)
-Tri Attack
-Ice Beam

Mega Metagross
Jolly 252 HP/16Attack/240Speed (Weird speed, but it surprisingly outspeeds lots of things)
-Reflect
-Zen Headbutt
-Bullet Punch
-Hammer Arm

Made it to Battle Tree 70's.

What's a good setup for Salamence? Plan on using the Mega, but it needs to be good enough to tide me over until I have the stone.
I was thinking Jolly 4 HP/252 Attack/252 Speed Dragon Dance/Outrage/Double Edge/Earthquake holding Dragonium Z, but I'm free to take suggestions.
>>
is a rain team viable for the battle tree?

I was thinking about doing something like pelipper/tapu Koko/ash Greninja
