Great interpretation making it the distortion world!

I have a suggestion for you when doing shading, try using a low opacity of a complimentary colour instead of blacker version of the colour used. Black tends to suck out all the hues and makes things a little flat.

It's super neat to see your art overtime evolve, you're doing great!

It's a really old and point and click adventure game (a horror one), from the late 1980's, for home computers, later ported to some consoles, like the NES and eventually the Gameboy Color.

While some remember it fondly (I guess it has a nice style and music), I think it's because there were simply not a whole lot of other point and click horror games for it to compete with back then (when it was new, anyway). I would recommend paint tool sai then photoshop.
Paint tool sai only because it has a very easy interface and it has a stoke stabilizer. This really helps you be more confident in your lines. PTS also has some really groovy premade brushes and are easy to customize.

I did just about all of my drawing on paint tool sai up until about three years ago when I buckled down to learn Photoshop properly.

Hey, novice drawer here, I see your content and it blows me away. I'm wondering if you could help me answer a couple questions to help me improve.

When I'm shading, I usually use something from the grey scale and it loses some of the vibrance. Is there a certain trick I could use?
I don't know if you've ever tried an app called Sketchpad, for Windows 10, but if you have, does it have a lot of tools to work with? I'm mainly only playing with the paintbrush since I'm not one to experiment much.
What's the best way about creating a gradient?

Hey, just wanna reply to a few things here.

First of all, sorry it's taken me forever to draw the darn Tapu Gorillaz image, OR (If you're here) I'm the first drawfag though someone else did it first if you check the booru, it's great but I'm still gonna finish mine since I just got back to it. I've been slow because dumb, bad feels more than anything.

Also secondly I'm the guy trying to keep the booru up to date too, I took a few days off because things were getting really shitty, but I should be back to the norm now. eyo, I tried to whip together a little colour chart.
Hopefully it's helpful! If you get a chance, look up blending modes, they are incredibly helpful!

I tried Sketchpad, but it wasn't for me. Experimenting is the fun part about art! go crazy! get excited about what you're making!

There are gradient tools in other software, but if you want to manually make one you can blend two colours together in the middle.

Shadowgate was awesome. I don't know if I'd really consider it a horror game since you mostly just got descriptions of your deaths.

Uninvited was definitely a horror game though - you got a closeup of what was tearing your limbs off and feeding them to you.

Not the guy who asked, but shading, lighting and shadows still give me problems. I posted this >>31069794 and I think my shading ability is shit. I never know where to place shadows properly, and I usually always just go with darker/lighter hues.

I already know a big part of getting better is just like in Pokemon games. Grind it out. But any practice suggestions or technique tips would be appreciated.

I like to figure out where the light is coming from before i start. I usually doodle a little sun in the direction i want the light to originate from so i don't forget. This helps things stay consistent with lights as well as shadows. Shadows are the most important in a piece because it gives the viewer a sense of the subject in 3d space.

In your drawing, I don't mind your shading because it is consistent. Don't be afraid of going darker with your shadows.
Also a handy tip, usually items in the foreground should be darker or lighter than anything in the piece to give it depth. In the linework, making the cone lines thicker can give the illusion of depth.

There are tons of tutorials floating online and there are a billion ways of making different effects, just experiment a whole bunch!
