I think they introduced too big a cast in SM. We're only 7 episodes in and the writers seem to be struggling in giving all the other characters screentime, since Ash still has to get the most anyway as the main character.

We have a Lana ep, Sophocles ep, and a Lillie ep, Mallow got a little focus on the beginning, Kiawe still needs an episode, and beyond that they still have to continually develop them all.

Well... it would be predictable from the actual staff if that scenario happens. Tomiyasu came from directing several episodes of that choujigen sakka anime (IIRC there were 2 girls with established crushes on MC from the moment they were introduced and then thre was the tsun-ojou girl who hated MC guts at the beginning, but steadily grew to love him. No need to tell who won there). Tomioka was head writer there too.
