Did the anime ever affect how you played the games or what pokemon you used?

I already liked my infernape a lot when i played diamond in 2007 but i also remember that entire arc they had about ash's chimchar and that fight against electrivire

i think that really made me never want to leave my infernape so i always transfer him to every new game and i use him against the elite 4 and post game stuff, it's actually really neat to see all the ribbons on him

like i could totally see kids that started playing in gen 6 doing the same with their greninja
