Just another tip, breed Honedges, Archens, starters from other regions, popular edgemons, etc. Just choose one of these pokemon and put them up on the GTS, they trade out in a few minutes at most no matter what you're requesting, barring SOME legendaries.

I used the GTS to complete my dex in about 14 hours using nothing but Archens and the pokemon I got for them, only occasionally having to trade up to get some legendaries and UBs.

Well I just got the shiny charm and so far I found a shiny Litten from hatching and a shiny Haunter while going to find a Mimikyu to catch because of balltism.

I had an abra out with jolly for the mimikyu so the haunter ended up being jolly but at least he be shiny.

This one is a noggin scratcher, especially with what little we have to work with in the region. I'd say a high leveled Torkoal with a ton of Pecha Berries on deck, honestly. Get some X Defenses off at the beginning too.

Is this your first game shinyhunting? You can max out your odds, and it still might take a long time. I don't think the odds get better at a certain point, I'm pretty sure they cap at a time. Even MM is relatively great odds in XYORAS, but you could still potentially be hatching twenty boxes with nothing. Just keep going: that's the only way you'll ever get the shiny.

no shiny dewpider yet, bred approx 3/4 boxes. got about 3 or 4 with max IV, and then like 5-6 with perfect iv except for special attack (which doesn't matter as I decided to breed them with a jolly nature for shits and giggles). Still no shiny! I'm wondertrading all of them away except for the aforementioned. Just got a ppmax from the lottery, hoping to get another masterball in the near future.

My first ever shiny using the "perfect Smeargle" S.O.S chain. I was hoping for a maly Diglett with Tangling Hair. I GOT IT! Only drawback is his speed is totally screwed by aboud zero IV and his sassy nature. However, he have strong 30-31 IVs where it matter the most.

I used a male Sylveon w/ cute charm and cast a Misty Terrain every 5 turns to avoid getting poisoned. Had to use potions and leppa berries a lot but the second shiny Salandit that popped up was female so it was worth it.

the pokeball is passed down by the mother by default, however:

if a male or genderless pokemon is bred with a ditto, the non-ditto's ball is passed down.

question guys, can you have an egg about to hatch, save, hatch it, and then soft reset until shiny? when does the game determine if it's shiny, and on the same note, when does it determine its IVs. Holy shit. I just caught this motherfucker. First shiny I've random encountered since a Solrock back in Emerald. (Second overall DESU, I gave up Masuda Methoding Cottonees in White. Was going to actually try breeding for shinies this Gen since the Shiny Charm isn't such a PITA to get without injecting)

I very nearly knocked him out. I had been in the haunted thriftymart training my snow warning Vulpix, and she froze and almost OHKO'd him with Ice beam. If the first ball I threw failed he would have been knocked out by the hail.

Anyway... suggestions on how best to use him? The nature's suboptimal, but Haunter was my favorite Pokemon back in gen I so I don't want to let him go to waste.

I don't care too much for Gengar's shiny so I'm tempted to try running Haunter with an eviolite. Is there any build that could be viable with for non-competitive use? Or should I just suck it up and evolve?
