I've been testing a team on PS with a Bulu/Xurk/Pelipper core. I also run marowak on the team, which is often times disadvantageous due to pelipper's rain. I actually like using A-Marowak though, so what would be a good team/core to slot it in on.

A-Marowak is great for TR teams, so try something with Oranguru and Torkoal.

I've been reading articles, watching YT vids and lurking here, but I'm really not quite sure how exactly to start teambuilding.

I like the idea of Trick Room, but really, I just need a bit of guidance here. Any ideas?

doesn't that necessitate 0 speed IVs though? The main reason behind my asking is because I've already bred a 6IV cubone in game and I want to know whether to scrap the project or see if I can fit it on a team somewhere.

I don't think it'll be entirely useful, as he's used on things other than just TR teams. If you haven't watched Wolfe's video already, then you can probably use it for some ideas.
