Day 132

I hatched a nice Snorlax from a 10km egg today. Not what I was hoping for but I'll take it. I lost two more long-time gyms today, now I'm at five. Not much happened otherwise.

I still do not have a Chansey.

Is anyone else finding that the new spawn spots tend to spawn the same few things there? There's a spawn next to a gym that I've caught at least 6 growlithe at the few times I've walked past and growlithe was rare as fuck here before that.

Same thing with Onix, seen shit loads of them in the wild since the last update in the same spot.

I have only one gym visible from home and no pokestop at all. There was another gym a bit further and one more. In the stable gyms time Mystic got the one I can see from home and made it lvl 10, I wanted to get the other two too but Instinct got them first so I left them alone. After this last update Instinct took down the gym visible from home so instead of wasting all my potions to take them down too I just passed by and weakened them a little, that was enough for Valor to come with bloody eyes and tear them down. I also weakened another lvl 10 Valor gym since they took down another lvl 10 Mystic gym. One week latter with everybody tearing everybody we have a city full of lvl 2 gyms from all teams but Mystic is the only one who still have a few gyms lvl 8 or above.

to get the bonus you have to get it within the circle
for most pokemon these happen to overlap, so that whenever its in the circle it also meets the other condition of hitting the pokemon

also for some pokemon their hitboxes dont' cover their entire model

Thanks, I got lucky with slowbro, rk9 and the plants. Unfortunately I got two mudshot poliwraths with nearly perfect IVs, and 4 nidos with garbage moves. I also walked geodude for 81 km and got ancient power, that was the most disappointing. I love golem, and really wanted to power one up.

If I have the resources available and its one of my good ones (good moves good IVs) I'll power it up

down the line when I have more I might stop for dudes like the nidoking maybe if I end up short on stardust, but at the moment I have plenty to max out all of them

one way to think of it is you could have a 2500 doggo, or a 2538 doggo
its expensive to go from 2500 to 2538, but you'll just have to judge for yourself if you want to use the resources for that extra boost

The balance between what spawns when and where should be fixed, too. I've got two Blastoises, but neither of the other two starters are even past 20 candies. I've only ever seen one Exeggcute in the wild, and the only Grimer I ever got was from an egg. Despite living near several rivers, I'm still only halfway to having enough candies for evolving my inevitable Twister Gyarados. On the other hand, I'm at 100 Jynx candies I'll never use.

They're sort of working on it, though. I'm seeing more diverse and more frequent spawns since the last two updates, and I'm not evolving a Drowzee every other day anymore, either.

Not to mention having to visit different continents (and turn on your roaming for possibly hours at a time) to complete your dex. Whoever decided that was a good idea should be fired and banned from working on video games ever again.

I think Lapras is more annoying. At least the treeman can be smashed with shit like Pidgeot (which is a common Pokémon) in no time, but Lapras has no perfect counter because all the grass types are weak as shit to Ice, the electric types are literally mouse sized (fucking ampharus taking so long to exist), and lest not speak about the fighting types (lol Poliwrath). Snorlax and Lapras are the most annoying ones but Treeman is the relatively common pokemon you can evolve that is a pain to fight. Slowpoke might be annoying too but its low CP means that with a few fights it is out of the gym, Treeman is near the top so you have to fight it multiple times before it falls and its counters usually take a lot of damage from his attacks, Haven't tested an ice slowbro to fight him.

You know, as much as I am enjoying extra spawns and the Star Dust that comes with it,
I am not enjoying the tracker.

The problem for me right now is that because there are more than 9 species available at any time, any rare Pokemon I want is shoved off the tracker box not because they despawned but because the game's retarded way of listing the Pokemon in the tracker box makes it impossible for me to triangulate it. And the tracker box displays a species if there is at least one of them available so when there are 9+ species of shitmons nearby, I will never be able to find the Pikachu / Grimer / Bulbasaur / whatever no matter how many fucking Spearows and Tauros I catch to clear the box.

The 9-species-only tracker box wasn't an issue before the increased spawns because there were never enough Pokemon to make it an issue.
Now it's an issue.
And it's killing me.

I can't even meme at people to triangulate spawns anymore when scanners are down because I can't honestly say I would be able to triangulate anything right now.

Well I don't know why my calculator says 15 HP / 4 ATK / 4 DEF is a possible IV range while whatever you're doesn't. Probably rounding errors.

If (4/4/15) is wrong, then you only need 2 power-ups, aka. 5000 star dust to be sure.
If it's not wrong, you might need up to 6 power-ups which would be like 16k or 18k Star Dust depending on the Wartortle's actual level.

I had one good Squirtle in my months of playing and it evolved into a Water Gun / Ice Beam Blastoise. I'd say if you're in it for the long haul to just wait it out until you get a good one.

Agreed. Ice is just a genuinely good typing to attack with, and even if you bring a resist it only serves to negate the STAB. Along with its sheer bulk and its water typing patching up a few weaknesses, Lapras is simply one of the best.

Snorlax is certainly up there in terms of raw bulk, but since it doesn't resist anything besides Ghost, it's easy to just pick something with a fast attack to dodge all its fast moves (that are unSTAB'd) and it usually goes down just fine, but Body Slam is definitely the best charge move since Hyper Beam takes forever to shoot and Earthquake is good but not great.

I can definitely see where people are coming from in regards to Exeggutor since Confusion packs a punch and Seed Bomb can come from anywhere with little to no preparation time, but I've found Gyarados to be great against it since it's neutral to grass and gets pseudo-STAB on Bite. Its bug weakness can be exploited but a good bug is hard to come by.

My personal nemesis will always be Vaporeon with Water Pulse, though. Water Gun means that any fast attack that needs more than 1 second to use won't be able to dodge its next move, and Water Pulse requires so little energy that odds are you'll unleash your charge move thinking your safe and then eat a third consecutive Water Pulse. I hate that water doggo.

It's not that I'm off target, it's that every throw lands short of the 'mon whether I throw as hard/fast off the phone as I physically can, or quick/controlled off the phone like I do when I'm going for distance, or doing the "L" throw, etc.

(And that's even with the awareness that toggling AR on/off is required after a failed catch attempt. Although in my excitement to catch a Lapras, I once forgot about that until I'd wasted three balls before I remembered to toggle AR on/off every time it breaks out of the ball to bring it back to the normal encounter range.)
